Really excited for this band after I saw them last year and picked up their previous album called "Just A Dream". I was truly impressed with these guys and hoped they would put out another album soon. Luckily, my prayers were answered and they released "7 Cities" only a few months later! Glad to report that Moreland & Arbuckle are still pumping out great blues rock that demands repeat listening. I feel their new songs are very well crafted and draw you in to their world. It's kind of like listening to The Black Keys but without the super polished production values. This isn't to say M&A lacks good production value, it just feels more like a heavy rock record than a pop record. Totally good for me! I'm going to see them again in the fall, and judging from their touring schedule, I'll get to see them A LOT because they tour relentlessly.

"It's definitely our best record ever, a concept album built around the story of Coronado searching for "Quivira", one of the mythical 7 cities of gold."

From modern electric and Delta-style blues to Roots Rock and Boogie to Americana and R&B, this one has it all and is a must for all collectors of music perfection.

I read......

Mr. Arbuckle clues the listener in on the direction and changes in the band this way, "We've become a roots-rock band at this point, but I still believe part of what makes us so unique is our instrumentation. You don't see other rock bands doing the guitar, harmonica and drums thing. It's significant that this is our first album with Kendall - he has brought a lot to the table in terms of his versatility. He's a great drummer, but he's also a strong harmony singer, and has a lot of good ideas during the process of arranging the songs. He contributed a lot to this album."

Aaron Moreland's electric, acoustic, resonator and cigar box guitars, Dustin Arbuckle's lead vocals and harmonica, Kendall Newby's drumming, percussion and backing vocals, 7 Cities gets an additional kick with Eric Corson on bass guitar, Josephine Howell on backing vocals and keyboardists Matt Bayles(Mastadon, The Sword) and Matt Benham.

From "Quivira," the raw, electric garage blues opening track to the vintage rock "Kow Tow", and twang "The Devil and Me" then a few menacing barn-burners "Tall Boogie" and "Road Blind", all of it rooted in the spirit of The Delta Blues meets Roots Rock. This one smokes and is definitely M&A's best work to date.

8 originals out of the 13 tracks.

Seems that each release from this band is better than the last. And this album is no exception. Not a throw away track on this one. The up-tempo songs rock and the slow ones are soulful and enjoyable. I love everything about this album. You will too!

Definitely the best young white guy roots blues group on the scene today.

Hard to believe these folks are from Wichita, Ks.

Looking forward to their appearance at the Groove into Fall festival @ Sam's Burger
Joint in San Antonio.
