One of the best diet books on the market.
on February 6, 2018
This is a very interesting cookbook with a 7 day diet plan using bone broth. If your like me, this is the first time you have heard of this. This diet involves consuming 40oz of bone broth per day. But don’t stop reading yet, your diet also includes eating pastured and grass fed proteins, and organic vegetables. There is a complete chapter on what you can and can’t eat. The big surprise, certain meats and fish can be consumed and this is another chapter in the book. So now it sounds like a great diet, right?
So your question like mine (was), what are the best bones and where do you get them. Yes, covered completely and there is a list of recommended bones for your broth. Your choices of cooking isn’t limited to the oven, as stove tops, slow cookers, and pressure cooker information is provided.
There is a sample menu plan and I was surprised to see maple bacon lentil soup with kale, and a spicy pineapple pork stir fry. That’s just the tip, many recipes are mouth watering in the seven day sample.
There is a chapter devoted to basic broths. These include Chicken Bone Broth, Beef Bone abroth, Spicy Pork Bone Broth, Bison Bone broth, and Turkey Bone Roth. Each recipe gives you prep times and instructions for stovetop, slow cooker, and pressure cooker plus prep time to help you plan the. Wal. Serving size, calories, carbs, sugers, fiber, fat, saturated fat, protein. And sodium content is included with each recipe. If you like spicy broth, the spicy pork bone broth contains jalapeño peppers and notes that you can substitute habanero or other peppers. Yes, that’s my favorite!
There is a chapter for sipping drinks, and included is a recipe for “flu buster”. It contains chicken broth (of course), honey and some other ingredients to help you enhance your immune system. This is a great alternative to over the counter medication if you feel sickness coming on.
A chapter on side dishes has many great foods including Bone Broth Hummus, Sweet Potato Puree (the picture looks del), and other healthy sides.
Since this is a Bone Broth Cookbook, the soup section is huge. Nothing boring or dull here, many succulent meals such as “real pho soup”,”paleo pork ramen”, and my favorite “ sausage and kale soup with roasted sweet potatoes “. And this chapter has the “ apple bacon lentil soup with kale”. That’s the first recipe I’m making out of this book.
There is a Stews section with recipes around the globe including “Irish Cabbage Stew, Thai Beef Stew, African Peanut Stew, Motoccan Lamb Tagine” and many more. The Classic Beef Stew looks better than anything I’ve seen at a restaurant. My compliments to who ever takes these pictures.
This book was given to me as a advanced copy to review and I actually dreaded reviewing it thinking it would be another one star book. I was certainly wrong, as this is fantastic cookbook, and I am amazed that I could diet, eat healthier, and enjoy the many foods that I love. The recipes are fantastic and I honestly liked just about every recipe in this book. I found nothing that I disliked. It’s well written, great pictures, great recipes, easy to read and follow instructions, great tips, helpful information, and interesting reading. So if the certain person in your life needs to loose weight (even yourself), this is a diet that even your meat eater will love. I highly recommend this book even if your not going to diet, but want to eat healthier.
