First off i want to say that this would have been my SECOND time replacing this power supply unit equalling THREE psu's but i wised up and decided to do research and get something worthy of my new gaming pc. secondly i would like to say that customer service was terrible, after i said "i would go with a different psu and i hope your products are better in the future, i am going with EVGA" the next thing the customer service guy said was so infuriating. He proceeded to ask me what psu model i have after i already told him and then when I said "i already told you that" he simply said "Thank you!" as if trying to get one over on me. I gotta say i've dealt with bad Customer Service before but that is just childish and quite idiotic. This power supply WILL NOT let you play games under full load of cpu or a gpu and definitely not at 720p forget about 1080p. The most this power supply offers is letting you surf the web, check your email, and playing the least demanding games of the directx 9.0 generation. I've played Counterstrike Source and Modern Warfare 2 on 720p and i got kicked off after 15 minutes. This PSU will fail you after the first year, after that expect your PC to lose power randomly, the power switch to get stuck, and yourself taking 20+ tries of turning the power switch on and off to get it to boot your PC. All in all i am going with a EVGA 600B 650 Watt Gold rated PSU for only 80.00 usd and never looking back. That's right only 30 dollars more than this piece of crap. This has been the worst experience of my life and i hope this company is burned to the ground!!!! P.S anyone giving this product a rating of 5 stars obviously works for coolmax.

i just built a gaming rig, spending roughly $1500. I saw this was on prime & cheaper than the original PSU I had selected, that was out of stock.
The unit works okay if you're not running any games. Once you boot up anything that draws more power, it triggers a power surge protection in the motherboard & kicks the entire system off.
I have been warned by several professionals that these units are poorly made, & can cause significant damage to your system.

This power supply does not conform to the ATX 2.0 connector standard. The standard specifies a 24 pin connector plus a 4 pin connector to supply additional 12 Volt power to the CPU. This supply has the pre-ATX 2.0 configuration of a 20 pin connector plus a 4 pin connector that will fit together in the 24 pin ATX 2.0 socket. As a result, this power supply will not adequately support the new multi-core Intel (i3/i5/i7) or AMD processors.

This power supply is a semi-modular configuration, with motherboard power, SATA, and IDE power permanently attached and 3 detachable cables, one each for SATA, IDE and PCI-Express.

Aside from the negatives, this power supply is silent and absolutely reliable--I have used it in an older system that didn't need the extra 12 Volt connectors for 3+ years, powered on 24 hours a day without a single hiccup.

This supply is an excellent performer for older systems, but will not support the newest generation of CPUs/motherboards.

I bought my first CU700B three years ago and it worked flawlessly till a power spike earlier this week. Not having time to check out PSUs, I just ordered another. They have changed the cabling arrangement drastically to the point where the PSU will not power my system under load, specifically, the graphics card. Previous model had a permanent 6 pin PCIe and a plug in cable for another. Powered my GTX470 with ease. This one doesn't have the permanent 6pin, just a plug in one that splits to two connectors. I will not power the card and the system reboots under load.

Serious waste of my time, they should have changed the model number to prevent issues like this. The info plate even shows that it has 21watts more power than the original. The ATX connector splits in two which is also odd. I removed the power cable to auxiliary hard drives and the optical drives to see what happens and it still dies when the graphics card starts working hard.

What a terrible power supply, whenever I play games or watch movies or anything, the power supply has some noises coming from it and completely shuts my computer down. Pretty much a paper weight item.

This replaces the exact same unit. Coolmax makes awesome equipment for computers. Wish some of the other manufacturers take note.
