From the Manufacturer
This little unit is a great place to start when looking for a home shop bandsaw. It features a powerful 3/4 HP motor and has the cutting capacities needed for larger shops.
Top Customer Reviews
The saw was fairly easy to put together. My wife and I put it together in a little over two hours and that includes building the stand. It does not include unpacking the thing.
The base is substantial, and so is the saw itself. Once turned on it runs smoothly and the adjustments are straight forward. The blade supplied with the saw is substandard. Buy the after market blades. I bought Olson.
So if everything is so good why only one star? The one star is because the machine is so underpowered that I cannot re-saw a 4 X 4 cedar post, and that is with the Olson blade. A brand new Olson blade. When I say "can't" I do not mean it is slow. It literally stops cutting even when I feed the wood in super slow. Thinking something must be wrong I nearly took the saw completely apart looking for problems. The belt tension, the blade tension, the rotation of the wheels, the electrical connections were all checked and found to be trouble free. Running the electric motor without it being attached to the saw revealed no problems.
I have finally decided the saw is woefully underpowered. Cutting 3/4 inch hardwood also slows it down rather dramatically.
I like Jet tools and have spent a lot of money on them over the years. Except for the power this is a good machine; however, it is so underpowered as to be nearly useless except for the lightest of work.
