Lara lost her Nan and blames herself for the tragedy. Since her Nan's death, she has become a shell of the outgoing, feisty person she once was. Noah was left wondering what happened and why after something happened between him and Lara left him alone and with no explanation.
The emotional hurdles these two have to overcome while also going up against a murderous psychopath makes for an interesting journey. Enjoy!
As soon as Lara found Noah with someone else she shut down the relationship and left Noah. Now a few months later Noah wants the chance to explain and doesn't want to give up on their love and life they had together. Unfortunately for Lara and Noah they have had an audience during their time together, a stalker with an elaborate plan set in place for the pair. Now begins a twisted hunt when Lara and Noah are kidnapped and dropped in the middle of nowhere and given seventy two hours to save themselves.
72 Hours by Bella Jewel quickly became one of those books that I just could not put down. A romantic suspense story that immediately had my attention as I got to know Lara and Noah's story and personalities but just as I got settled into wanting to know their relationship the story takes a huge turn when they are dropped into a psychopath's game of terror.
Easily this story turns into a horrific page turning nightmare that had me on the edge of my seat. It's one of those books that while reading I really began to long for this one to be made into a movie someday and watch the intense action unfold on a big screen. Definitely a nail biting intensity involved that I think should have readers hooked until the very end. Would definitely recommend checking this one out for the suspense fans.
I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.
Lara was a sweet, sassy, and gorgeous character until one moment changed her outlook causing her to become timed, pathetic, fragile, and weak. Noah character was strong and determined, but after Lara's incident he became angry, desperate, and frustrated with her.
They had no idea they were pawns in a game. They were set up to become the perfect players for his game. They found themselves players in a dangerous and terrifying game of hide-and-seek. He wanted to push them knowing they were no longer a couple. She was insecure and emotional while he was tense and impatient.
They were captured and abandoned in the woods. They had 72 hours to find their way out before the hunt began. The killer chose them for their weaknesses. He had watched them for years studying their behaviors. The killer concealed himself yet knew their every move.
The story was written in Lara's POV. The killer had a voice in between chapters which added to the fear for their impending situation.
The story kind of reminded me of Naked and Afraid. How the players had to look for ways to survive and seek help, support, and protection from their partner. They had to unite as a team to become strong in order to fight their way until the end. I also found similarities with the Hunger Games with the intensity to fight to survive at whatever costs. A few scenes brought me back to memories of the Shining where the killer was crazy, wild, and fearless with his hunting techniques. I was often thinking about Survivor when Lara and Noah had to find food and water.
This adventure became about Lara redeeming herself from the girl Noah met and the girl she became. Lara learned along the way that she could merge the two people into one and accept herself while also forgive herself. Both characters had their spirits tested when contending against Mother Nature and a monster.
The story was a thrilling romantic suspense with an edgy adventure built-in. 72 hours was exciting, thrilling, and adventurous. The chase was exhilarating and terrifying. The story was action-packed.
