In June I started heavily researching nutrition, and it's role in health, disease, and overall well-being. It shocked me to learn the truth about the meat and dairy industry. I was blown away that these foods are the CAUSE of most of our problems. However, once you find out for yourself and understand the research, it's not hard to figure out why these foods are so bad for you. In July, I stumbled upon the 80/10/10 lifestyle via various well known youtube channels and raw food websites. As hard as it was to wrap my head around not eating any animal products AND very low fat, it just made sense. It hasn't been an easy transition but now I'm embracing the lifestyle, and my body and mind have been thanking me bountifully. My energy levels are up, my mood is always fantastic, and my strength training is at new levels. One thing in particular is body fat, which has been shedding rather quickly. Funny, since most "experts" tell you; "carbs make you fat".
I'm 5'11 and started at 229 pounds and 25% body fat in December. I'm now at 194 pounds and 12% body fat(most of which has occurred since May of this year). I'm aiming for 185 pounds and ~8% bodyfat or less. Don't believe anyone who tells you that you can't bodybuild on 80/10/10, I'm proving them wrong as I speak. Of course physical aesthetics are nice, I'm enjoying the overall health and well-being that comes with eating what comes naturally.
I was turned on to raw foodism by David Wolfe, I was a vegan before that. Eating raw still was a vast improvement, but all the fat from nuts and avocados since I was craving calories made me feel pretty awful. The 80/10/10 diet is the answer. You can skip the Sunfood Diet Success system.
You don't have to buy the book. It's really really simple. Get all your calories per day, no less than ever before, except 80% from carbs, 10% from proteins and 10% from fats. Eating all raw fruit and vegetables and some greens, and nuts and seeds and stuff like that occasionally, if you want. All the info is on the internet. Give it a try.
You will have tons of energy. You will actually WANT to exercise and you will feel great for doing it. And you'll have the energy to put up with all the crap you don't feel like you can put up with usually. And do so much much much much more with yourself. And actually be able to have fun doing it. So, that's pretty nice, I'd say.
Prepare to become one of the most privileged people on the planet! The sub-tier of the sub-tier of the sub-tier! Fruitarianism is where it's at baby.
Much much love :) :) :)
