Battery Status* gives a nominal capacity of 134502mWh after first charge and 130700mwh after 2nd charge.
Heavier (~2x) than original battery, can live with this. Ventilation much better due to the extra space.
In conclusion: Much better than new battery. HP laptops should definitely have come with this battery as standard !
I will hopefully update this post for capacity and longevity.
21 Nov 2008: Glad to report that battery is still performing as expected.
* IMO the best free battery monitoring software by Thomas Talpey; BTW: thank you!
Note1: per instructions, the new battery should be charged with the laptop OFF, then allowed to cool for 30min after it has been discharged before repeating process 3x. Verified that the battery meter gave an incorrect reading when this was not followed.
Note2: Higher capacity batteries WILL take longer to charge. Higher capacity batteries TEND to be bigger. Look at the product pictures carefully. Picture #1 is the side that goes into your laptop. Picture #2 is the bottom with feet. Essentially, it is 2 of the 6-cell batteries stuck together (for a general visual of how it will look).
I never had any trouble with the old genuine HP battery in around 2 years.
First cycle was overnight for at least 8 hours. Charge read 98%. Installed long DVD, 3 hrs 21 min, and battery lasted 2 and 30 min.
Second cycle charged in about four hours. Same DVD, Return of the King, and battery lasted 2 hours 50 min.
Third cycle charged again in about four hours, using same DVD, and battery lasted right at 3 hours.
Your life will probably last longer if you are running in a more conservative mode. Double click on battery icon and go to Advanced Options to select preferences. My unit is a DV6000 and over 7 years old. It was donated to the non-profit over fours years ago with Vista and 2 GB RAM. It has been upgraded to 4GB RAM, upgraded to Phoenix BIOS, Converted to a 64 bit system, installed Win 8.0 Pro 64 bit system and upgraded to 8.1 pro. As most of the work is Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Internet, a larger hard drive was not needed.Read more ›

Original was half the power. The higher power battery is bigger and makes the laptop tilt forward a bit but fits perfectly. I like the extra power.Published 4 months ago by Amazon Customer
This battery sure didn't last long. Within a few recharges, it was reading as fully charged at half of it's rated capacity. It's not bad if you need a temporary replacement. Read morePublished 11 months ago by ryan miller
