I love this design of this controller - they nailed how I wanted the form factor and even the joystick layout. There are 3 major flaws with this controller though. The first - which you can fix with a firmware update - is that out of the box the rumble feature feels and sounds terrible. The second issue - my controller came with a left joystick that keeps sticking in the up or left positions. This is a huge disappointment - as I really wanted to love this controller. The final issue is that it will not permanently pair with the Switch like the pro controller - you’ll need to either use another joycon / pro controller to wake the Switch - or you’ll have to go turn the switch on and then Pair the SN30. Ultimately I could live with two of those issues - but the joystick sticking is a huge issue.
I bought a NES 30 Pro last year and the left trigger started sticking about 5 weeks in. When I contacted 8BitDo for warrantied repair, they differed me to the reseller who refused to replace and differed me back to 8BitDo. They then ignored my second inquiry.
So far I’ve invested nearly $100.00 and got two broken controllers & unfair treatment from the manufacturer.
If you buy this product and you need to return past Amazon’s 30 day policy, only way your getting a warrantied repair is if you lawyer-up. Otherwise the supplier will do everything possible to avoid taking responsibility for their expensive, buggy product.
It’s really is a shame too because the controllers really are fantastic in concept.
You really need to update the firmware ASAP for proper functionality.
Initial "clicky-ness" may be a turn off for some users but will probably lessen upon use just like the original SNES controllers.
D-pad is great but not perfect. But it is the closest thing I have ever used in a 3rd party controller EVER to simulate the original SNES one.
Price at launch was a little steep IMO but I still bought it and I'm happy with it. You get what you pay for. The price will likely decrease with time.
