The knives are adequate for spreading and cutting softer food and the forks are very useful for spearing anything without worry. They have a nice weight and the translucent colors are lovely. As you can see in the photo, they are just a bit shorter than the standard plastic ones.
As others have noted, they're not particularly small. The spoon, in fact, is larger than my Oneida set's teaspoon. I think most kids 3+ years old should have no problem handling them. I now consider their size to be a good thing: it quickly introduced my daughter to "near full size" utensils, reducing potential drama when visiting places that didn't have "kids silverware".
The pieces aren't so small that the girls feel like we are making them eat with "baby" flatware, but are smaller than normal flatware and are perfect for a toddler's smaller hands and mouth. The colors are also fun and vibrant, which makes the girls happy and not at all upset that they don't get to use the shiny flatware anymore. They are also inexpensive enough that I won't mind replacing them two or three times a year if we need to. While I wouldn't recommend these to anyone as a primary flatware set for a household, if you are looking for flatware for your younger ones this will do the job perfectly.
Here is what I love....the plastic fork actually pierces food! No more dull spork plastic or metal kiddie utensils. The knife works well all while being safe to use. My daughter actually loves to use the knifves while playing woth her playdoh. They are a nice size so my 18mo, 4yo and even my husband and I can use them. They come in fun colors and 6 complete sets so there is enough to last you a long time!
The fork *actually* stabs into food, a huge upgrade from the pathetic sporks that are normally sold as baby cutlery. The spoon is solid and doesn't lose it's shape under pressure. Also, I love that they're bigger and harder to lose down our garbage disposal.
The knife will get used later once we introduce it, but it seems perfectly fine too. The fun colors are bold and are great ways of pairing color learning with eating (do you want a GREEN fork or a PURPLE fork?).
