A Certain Freedom Kindle Edition

5.0 5.0 out of 5 stars 2 ratings

"A Certain Freedom" is a book of five short stories. Nominally, they're about chess, autonomy, social networks, acting, and death. More generally, they all touch in some way on freedom and independence.

A beautiful collection of essays from a young new author. Mr. Collison has a delicious ability to express complex emotions and situations with a gentle touch and a wry sense of humor. I hope to see more from this writer.

A great collection of short stories by a highly promising young author. Would definitely recommend to friends. My favourite story in the collection is the piece which clearly inspired the title "A Certain Freedom" about a young chess player. Closely followed by the encounter of two strangers at the cinema. 5 stars.
