A Kiss at Christmastide Audible Audiobook – Unabridged
Lady Pippa Godfrey has suffered the most ruinous London Season. She escapes to her Somerset estate for a quiet Christmastide holiday with her family, away from society's prying eyes. But before her parents can join her, a storm crashes down on Somerset to destroy any hope of Pippa's white Christmas dream. The roads have flooded and travel is impossible, leaving her stranded and alone. But a muddied, angry, and devilishly handsome lord appears at her door demanding shelter.
Lucas Hartfeld, the Earl of Maddox, has been summoned by his parents, the Marquis and Marchioness of Bowmont, to attend a holiday party in the wilds of the country, far from his London townhouse. He suspects they command his attendance for far different reasons than a simple country party. When a storm strands his carriage, he's forced to seek shelter at the only home for miles around, a local manor called Helton House.
When Lady Pippa is reluctant to admit him, he does what he's been raised to do - demand she provide him and his servants with shelter until the storm passes. But the beautiful woman draws his interest far more than he's willing to admit. Can Lucas find a way out of the predicament his parents are planning?
As Lady Pippa scrutinizes another arrogant, demanding lord, she is bombarded with memories of betrayals in her past. Can she forget those difficult life lessons to claim a Christmastide kiss from a perfect stranger?

After being unexpectedly and unjustly betrayed by her lifelong best friend Lady Natalie during her first Season, Lady Pippa has escaped back to her country home. Christmas is rapidly approaching but it is a ferocious rainstorm rather than snow that descends on the area and keeps Pippa's parents from traveling home. It also deposits one very unhappy and disheveled earl on her doorstep in the middle of the night as she is essentially home alone. Despite her concern for proper decorum, she can't turn him away and she suddenly finds herself with a very commanding- and handsome- male in her home.
The storm continues for a few days and they fall into easy bantering and companionship. Lucas doesn't share his real reason for being in the area to attend Lady Natalie's family gathering and Pippa doesn't share her reason for not wanting to attend until they are faced with a situation that brings it all to light.
For a novella, this book provided a wonderfully detailed story that did not leave me feeling cheated even with the abbreviated page count. Lucas and Pippa had some great chemistry and A Kiss at Christmastide was a great way to pass an hour or two.
It is a clean novella and has betrayal from a friend and our H Her friend Natalie has a story about why she treated our h in this story so badlly in a novella by another author called HOW TO KISS A ROGUE by Amanda Mariel in a anthology called SEVEN ROGUES FOR CHRISTMAS. Confusing I know but I will be reading this next because I can't believe Natalie can be redeemed from how she treated the h in this story.
Over the course of just a few days our H has a turn around and falls fast for our H. I enjoyed the banter between the H/h and the love from her parents. This was a nice story at Christmas time that was fun to read. We do get an epilogue which was sweet. I wanted more info on our H'since parents something is said by the father near the end of the story which would have had great impact on our H's future and was dropped, other than saying the father realized he shouldn't have forced the son into a decision. I guess we r to read between the lines that all was forgiven!!!
I do recommend this sweet read! (Ljb)
