A Time for Truth: Reigniting the Miracle of America Audible Audiobook – Unabridged

4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars 1,811 ratings

Liberals love to hate Ted Cruz. The outspoken Texas senator has a knack for getting under their skin. His quotable remarks - and even more, his principled stands on numerous national issues - have made him a political lightning rod and the most Googled man in Washington.

There is a simple reason Senator Cruz has dominated so much of the national conversation. Since his election to the Senate in 2012, he has refused to go along with the established way of doing business in Washington. As a result,he has become a voice for millions of Americans frustrated with governmental corruption and gridlock.

Telling the truth is a radical act in our nation's capital - a city dominated by empty promises, meaningless "show votes," and a self-protection racket designed to get politicians reelected rather than heeding the demands of the American people. Cruz has told the truth - about Washington collusion, a corrupted political process, and the institutional barriers to actually fixing the enormous challenges we face.

In A Time For Truth, his first book, Cruz tells his story as a Cuban immigrant's son who made it to the Ivy League, to the Supreme Court bar, and eventually the US Senate. It's a deeply personal journey that begins with Cruz's father experiencing brutality in a Cuban prison and ends with Cruz's discovery that Washington has neither the courage nor the desire to preserve the freedom and opportunities that gave hope to his father and millions like him.

Pulling back the curtain on the backroom deals between Republicans, Democrats, and the lobbyists who keep them in office (instead of keeping them accountable to their constituents), Cruz offers an inside look at what has gone wrong in our nation's capital. He argues that the need for change is urgent and that the only way to bring about real change is to revitalize the constitutional principles that made our country great.

It's a book that will win Ted Cruz few friends in Washington. Then again, that isn't why he went there in the first place.

I had learned so much about many great persons in this book

I had learned so much about many great persons in this book
Mesmerizing! It was just too hard for me to put the book down. I had learned so much about many great persons in this book. My two kids are still learning to read, but when they are a little older, I will have them read this book so that they will love this country as much as Ted does. Also if they understand every words in this book, they will almost be ready to tackle the SAT. Before the first debate I did suggested on Facebook that Ted to say that he will rescind the 14th amendment. Sadly he didn't get the message. Then a few days later, Trump uttered it.Recently, I noticed that Ted is having difficult times with the liberal reporters about deporting the illegal aliens. You don't have to round them up to deport them. It would be an astronomical task, but not impossible. Instead you will fine anyone who hires them for work, or rent them a room. The first offend is $5,000, then $10,000 for the second's, and so on... You will also defund any agency that handed out entitlements to the illegal aliens and their anchor babies. Of course, being the most generous county in the world, you will offer free ride to anyone who wants to go to the border. Hopefully, after 8 years of being the President, Ted will have more time to write books.

Ted Cruz' book, "A Time For Truth" will acquaint the reader with some of the lesser known features of this man's character. Ted is driven, truly driven, to make our country a better place, NOT by attempting to control every choice or decision but by returning the country to the honest roots of the Constitution! He is also an excellent planner, and has written this book to acquaint the interested voter in what principles he holds dear. This very clarity makes Cruz an unfavorable candidate to the 'inside the beltway' crowd as he is not about to compromise his principles and therefore is nearly impossible to co-opt. Evidence the current GOP political campaign, where no one has been able to find actual issues to use against him that do not simply point out his incorruptibility. He is a very honest man . . and his debate and logic skills are impeccable. Few who have not followed his career closely even know of the major victories he has had in reining in Washington's over-reach or defending the 10th Amendment before the Supreme Court. Most dont even know that he clerked for Rehnquist or understands the workings of SCOTUS likely better than anyone else.

Although Cruz does not appear to be intent on exposing the many ways in which our politicians promise one thing then do the opposite behind closed doors, that message comes through clearly in his descriptions of events that have occurred both in his career in Texas and within the Senate. It's probably safe to say Cruz has made just as many enemies among the GOP as he has among Democrats. When you see what he-and a very few other staunch and stalwart conservatives, have had to contend with, you can see why his success has made him a formidable opponent among those who repeatedly 'go along to get along'. Ted is a true enemy of crony capitalism and sparks terror in those who fear either exposure for their double-dealing or loss of their special privilege in Congress. Once the reader understands why he is such a danger to the status quo, they will finally understand why the GOP went to such lengths to stop his campaign for president, even to the point of forcing us settle for a hugely flawed Donald Trump rather than to allow him the win he was heading for. Remember, Trump makes deals-Cruz does not!

A crooked and Cruz-hating RNC forced Cruz and his supporters out of the Republican National Convention. The loss was not only to Cruz but to those who had real hopes of a clean candidacy and a viable candidate going against Hilary Clinton in November. It should be very telling that the RNC prefers the inevitable loss to the corrupt Clinton cartel over a real, honest conservative candidate that wins over supporters wherever they are permitted to hear him out. That knowledge will fuel conservatives in four years . .and I think we can be sure of a strong Cruz shot at the presidency in 2020. Meanwhile, get the book . . .it's well worth reading and likely will help you clarify your own conservative views and picture what kinds of things someone like Ted Cruz could do to accomplish them.

I have read Ted Cruz's A Time for Truth book. I give it a 5 star rating. I couldn't put it down. I would give him a 100 star rating! He is brilliant and very dedicated to our nation. There is such a huge NEED for someone like him to lead the United States of America. I can only hope and pray that the majority of voters in this country will wake up and truly care about what happens in our country....and vote accordingly. Sure, Donald Trump is bringing a lot of issues to front and center of people's attention...and I, for one, commend him for that. But he is not experienced in government issues. I think Ben Carson appears to be a wonderful person that has a passion to lead our country in a much better way than it is being done now. But, again, he is not experienced in governmental problems. Ted Cruz is! He will know how to handle difficult situations that will face our nation. I feel he is our very best choice. Our nation is in very deep trouble and only someone who is experienced, a true leader (not afraid to NOT be "politically correct" which is nothing but a bunch of bull crap!!)....and brilliant when it comes to law and our Constitution....can lead us out of this mess we are in! Just don't take my word for it....spend a few bucks and read this book. I feel once you have done that, you like me, will be proud to vote for this man. I believe he truly cares about our nation and all the problems it is now facing and those that will surely come if things aren't turned around....and quickly! But caring is not enough....I believe he is a DO-ER and will be a President of actions that will turn this country around for the BETTER...and he is willing to work hard to do just that. Also....don't sit at home watching TV and enjoying your freedoms...and skip voting. VOTE! VOTE! It's very important that our nation not only survives (God help us).... but THRIVES!

I just finished the book today. First and foremost, let me just go out and say that this was an excellent book. I don't buy a lot of books, and when I do I tend to have a hard time keeping my focus reading them and finishing them. It was not the case with this book. It grabbed my attention so much that I could hardly put it down.

Secondly, Ted makes a compelling argument identifying what real conservatism is not just in philosophy but in practice, whether through historical examples of men and women who had the courage to stand up for what was right or explaining the difficult circumstances he and his family faced themselves and the trials he faced in college, as a litigator, and in running for Senate.

Thirdly, for me at least, if you did not pay much attention to Marxism growing up--which, unfortunately in my case, I always heard it was bad but didn't really understand in full until the past couple of years--at least read the chapter titled "The Beacon." One particular portion at the end that shook me awake was where he identified how the Communist Government in Cuba tries to portray itself before visitors as a place with wonderful hospitals and beautiful farms, for example, but all of this is a lie covering over the reality of its two-tiered health system and poverty.

Fourthly, I appreciated how Ted does not seek to turn his life story into that of a mythological Greek or Roman deity, writing to make himself seem more honorable and righteous than he really is. He is very frank about his past failures. That is very helpful.
