I tried to use it with a Powerpoint presentation from a Macbook Pro laptop. The problem is that it can only show video but not powerpoint presentation with HDMI. Since it runs on an Android, it needs a special application to play the Powerpoint Presentation. I have to send the powerpoint presentation to an email address and then received by the device (which is a nice feature!!). Well, of course, some of the powerpoint presentation special effects was lost after the conversion. Another problem was it cannot take the whole powerpoint presentation slide if the margin of the original presentation is too small. Maybe it will work better if I use google application instead of Microsoft software.
The menus of the product is insufficient and I have to go to the company website to troubleshoot the problem. I have a feeling that this product is pushed to the market in a hurry and there are still some rough edges need to be polished.
Next the SD card port is actually a Micro-SD card port - again this is not clearly mentioned in the spec sheet - not even on the box. The Micro-SD is not as popular as SD and this could be a problem.
The pictures are crisp - the ability to play files off a USB drive is great.
The fan noise is a lot but can be overshadowed by a good speaker system.
For the money and the size, this is a great buy. I wish I could figure out how to get HDMI from iPhone/iPad working.
The speaker I knew was useless , but I simply run a Lepai amp with a pair of B652s and it works great . The fan is a little noisy if near it , but nothing that isn't overcome by decent speakers and having the unit away from you .
The one thing that sold me on this was portability . The fact that it can be run without a power cord when I want to do a quick show of pics etc .
People that have seen this projector in action are amazed at what it can do for such a small size . For $300 , it's hard to beat .
I have been using this with both a Lepan II and Acer Iconia ( both HDMI out) for streaming video as an outdoor theater . Still working great and has made quite the splash with my daughters friends on " movie night" . Completely happy with this unit and will buy another if this one ever dies on me .
I was using it for an art installation that would be up for a week - with me turning it onin the morning and off at night. I was afraid it wouldn't last... but it did!... visually at least. Before I even started the installation the sound cut out when I was just testing it a few days before. I had to change the material I was using last minute to go with something silent. As a result, I returned it with no problem. I'm not sure if that was a defect of the single product / if it was possibly refurbished or something... or if it speaks to the product as a whole.
But otherwise it was a satisfactory product and I'm interested in buying another for future use... I just might wait a bit to see if something spectacular or new comes out before I get around to it. But if you need one now -- this one DID fit the bill... just hope there isn't a defect!
