I purchased this particular pico projector for a wide range of tasks: client presentations when no projector is available, impromptu use for gaming/movie watching on a wall or ceiling, throwing schematics onto the surface of wood/metal to scale for scribing the cut markings, throwing a guide image up for painting murals on large surfaces.
I have to say, it does everything and it does it well. The 80 lumen lamp is bright enough so a power point presentation is readable with the conference room lights on, using it to scribe schematics onto material in a well lit workshop, I eve. used to for the 2nd screen feature for an F1 race recently, with a lot of ambient light pouring in from outside, and the image looked good.

The only cons, and these are minor ones at most:
The cooling fan in the unit can be a bit noisy if you are watching video with no audio in a quiet setting for an extended period of time, if there is any background noise it's hardly noticeable.
The colors in video appear a bit vivid, but this may be to me not having played with the settings enough.
The built in speaker is very tinny, not worthy of being used for audio, but would do if no other alternative is available.

Other than that, the unit is great! I was surprised with the accessories that were bundled, a tiny tripod was in the box, which was surprisingly sturdy. For the price point this is an excellent buy if you are looking for a small, versatile, portable projector to tether to a laptop or tablet on the go.

It's basic use, as a portable lightweight battery operated projector it works really well. Maybe that's where they should have left off. The included Windows CE version on this is useless. There's also the built-in ability to view/playback Word or PowerPoint files. Keep in mind, this will NOT read the newer word files so, save all your files in the older office formats if you want to even have a prayer to play them back.
Even at that a PPT file can take minutes to load. I've loaded a text only PPT file 780Kbs in size and the load time is near 5 minutes with the file located on the P4 itself. Not USB drive. The presentation does play back but you'll need plenty of load time so plan ahead. Getting files onto the device can be a work in itself. Only one usb port for both keyboard and mouse then nothing to use to load your files from. The smaller usb port doesn't appear to do anything on our unit, your mileage may vary.
The best method I've found so far is to plug the P4 into your computer and transfer files that way, probably best just to play back your files from a PC too and just skip the built in software.

Buy this if you need a portable projector plugged into your computer for presentations.
Buy this if you're up for a challenge transferring files to and from. What should be easy will provide hours of fun.
Don't buy this to rely on the ability to view presentations with the built in software.
Don't buy this for Windows CE, unless you know what it's good for.
Don't expect the included tripod to be of any use. By itself it might work but, once you connect wires to the P4 the tripod is like balancing a bowling ball on a toothpick.

You might be better off with the Windows CE free version. Just count on using this plugged into your laptop.

The AAXA P4X Pico projector ($300) is a lightweight battery-operated, palm-size video and monitor projector. I purchase it for conducting presentations on the fly for my photo instruction business. My instructors meet in public indoor locations for our 2 hr classes and often do have access to power or a screen for projection. Powered with LED light, the PIco projector is very effective in a darkened room for up to 10-12 feet and with a 5 foot screen projection. The battery life was about 1.5-2 hours; sufficient for a 2 hour class. I even projected a 90 minute movie for my kids outdoors in a park. Their are many connections available. I have used the VGA with and iPad retina. There also audio in for its speakers, USB connection or Flash drive , HDMI standard video and an SD card slot for viewing photos or videos. Check for formats for proper viewing. Haven't tried it yet. I will amend my review later. I connected the Pico Projector with supplied cables. The surface texture is rubber like; great gripping. I mounted the projector on my photo tripod. That's cool! It also came with a mini tripod for table top projection.

What I liked:
Small size. Portable
Battery operated. Good life. 3 hours to recharge to first time.
Supplies cables. Though may have to find adapters to other devices.
Connection options
Tripod mounted
Buttons and menus easy to use
Surface texture easy to grip.
Bright projection in small spaces for small groups

My concerns:
Had some issues keeping the supplied VGA adapter cable connected to unit. A little loose in port. Had to use tape to keep it from falling out. I think the weight of the cable a bit too much. Trying another cable or HDMI next time. Does not come with minHDMI/HDMI cable. Because this issue, 4 stars other wise would have been 5.

My Plans
I will try the remaining viewing options and connections. Test battery life and cables in other scenarios and conditions.
Connect to other devices; laptop, disc player, a phone( with adapters) that has video out. Connect speakers

Overall very pleased with this projector. John Perez, Owner, Indy Photo Coach.com

4.0 out of 5 stars Great projector for the price point.

Great all rounder for the price. I’ve gone through 4 other different Pico projector models from amazon in as many weeks as they either don’t perform as described or were so poor as to be unusable. This is a great product and is stable, bright and has plenty of inputs. The remote doesn’t work for me, but it’s not really necessary. Great form factor, pretty good battery life and most importantly of all, bright enough to give a good quality image in a dimly lit room.
