AB grew up in Southern Missouri believing monsters lived under the bed. And in the closet. And in the dilapidated shed in the woods behind her aunt’s house. What’s more, they walked around in broad daylight. They prowled everywhere in search of little girls. Evil lurked in the human heart.
Too many ghost stories told at night, plus horror comic books read during the day, fueled AB’s imagination. Packs of cousins and relatives who thought jumping out of hiding places and yelling BOO created some issues with trust.
The word psychopath never entered her childhood vocabulary, but she absorbed the idea early on of murderers and misfits and monsters.
Teaching adolescent boys, she learned a lot about misfits. Working in Silicon Valley, she learned a lot about testosterone-driven egos. AI, an emerging technology, spurred her to learn more about the human brain. Neuroanatomy and behavioral psychology piqued her curiosity about nature and nurture. This duality goes to a basic question about misfits and murderers and psychopaths.
Her dark, psychological thrillers probe the impact of the family on wounded hearts.
AB is the author of five published books in The MisFit Series.
Book 1, The Early Years relates the incident in 10-year old Michael Romanov’s life that catapults him from misfit to fledging psychopath.
Book 2, The Lost Days traces his confrontation with ruthless kidnappers who cement his twisted views of trust, revenge, and family loyalty.
Book 3, The In-Between Years tracks his downward spiral in adolescence—betrayed by the one person who should have offered him a lifeline.
Book 4, The Reckless Year chronicles a psychopath in love in his mid-thirties. How far will he go to get the woman he wants? Definitely not the typical boy-meets-girl love story.
