This book is AWESOME. If you already have a programming background, have been around a bit over the years and "just" want to know enough about ABAP to become productive, with a goal of becoming expert in time - this is THE book for you. It covers literally everything I needed to know.
It is also incredible value, especially at the Amazon price. You could take a 2-week SAP-authorized course in Walldorf or Newtown Square for 150 times as much (no kidding) - and leave with less knowledge.
What is also annoying, tables are named MARA, MANA, MIRA, MORA. You can get mad during reading. Really.
Maybe people in India (authors) like additional difficulties. The rest of world enjoys by solutions.
expected shipment date shows for this book is 9th Nov, today is 24th Dec and i am still waiting to receive this book. This book is not yet dispatched to me. This is pathetic and not acceptable at all.
Moreover, no shipment/courier details were provided to me so that i could follow up myself and hence i left with no choice to write on this review page.
I want immediate invesigation into the issue and my copy to be dispatched to me ASAP.
It starts with the very basics that the beginner needs to know but then goes on to more complex topics. A skilled SAP user can use it to enhance their skills in areas where they have not worked. It describes the techniques and procedures that are most frequently used to work with SAP R/3.
The code examples in the book are based on mySAP ERP software and the book presumes that you have this installed on your system to be able to follow the examples.
I've often felt that most programming books leave off the first twenty or fifty pages that explain just what it is that they are trying to do. This one includes those pages with a short introduction to just what it is that SAP is trying to do, how it came about, and the philosophy under which it operates. This book adds to, but does not replace the existing information about SAP and gives references such as web sites where this information may be obtained.
