Editorial Reviews

You know the traditional way of looking at it--computers are a boy thing. It's science and mathematics and electrical engineering and war games so don't expect girls to get involved. In fact, of the major technology companies in Silicon Valley, less than six percent are run by women. However, more and more women are using the Internet every day--over one-third of the users now. And high tech businesses are just beginning to figure out if you build it, they will come. Design software like computer games to suit the interests of girls and women and you can make a lot of money. The revolution has finally gotten to the point where it's reaching out to people who have been left out, left out in this case because the original designers were, for the most part, exactly what you'd expect--young men who knew what they wanted. So what does this new twist in the road mean and what exactly are these differences between men and women that seem to stand out so clearly in the cyber world?
