A heavy gauge wire solution to using our 3000VA UPS on a 15A socket.

This thing is built heavy, which for adapting a 20A device to a 15A outlet is what you want. Our wiring is rated for 20A, has a 20A breaker, but only 15A wall sockets. This was a quick solution to putting a 20A UPS onto our 15A socket. The reality is we don't run more than 5A, and only use the large datacenter ups in office areas for the additional runtime it affords. Having to have every 15A socket replaced with a 20A or changing the power cord to an equally heavy 15A was just not practical. As much as I hate "cheater" AC wiring, for this application, this was the way to go.

Only for a 20A appliance on a 20A circuit with a 15A receptacle

I don't know why electricians put 15A receptacles on 20A circuits, but they do it all the time. If you don't have the expertise to change the receptacle, get one of these for your large-current-draw equipment. Just make sure you have a 20A breaker on that circuit. (Plug a light into that receptacle and turn it on. Start flipping breakers off one at a time until the light goes out, and make sure the breaker controlling that circuit says "20". If it says "15", your wiring will not handle a 20A appliance on that circuit, and the breaker will trip if you try.)

This is a good quality 15 Amp to 20 Amp 125 Volt Adapter. One star off for the price. It's overpriced as far as I'm concerned. It's exactly they same as your regular three prong to two prong adapter in quality that you can get for a few bucks, but they charge ten bucks for this just because there is one horizontal and one vertical hole for whatever 20 volt wire you plug into it. I can't see how that can justify 4 times the price of a conventional adapter. I needed it fast, so I bought it here.
