I bought these because they were dirt cheap but did end up replacing them with Monster Xbox Component Video Cable. So how did they compare to Monster Cables? Not too bad.

Let me first be clear that I did not test these on a HDTV, just and old picture tube standard definition TV. Monster Cables were the clear winner though. A noticeable improvement in picture quality and clarity. But these Intec cables had a pretty decent picture, just a tad downgrade from Monster.

You can’t see it in the Amazon picture, but these are very well made cables. Very thick and bulky plastic covering with heavy metal gold plated heads. The wire part has dark green transparent plastic, showing some sort of woven material covering the copper wire. Looks like a dark green snake coming out of your XBox. Pretty cool looking. And it’s nice and long, just a little shorter than Monster. And the heads slide on easy to your TV, not too tight or loose.

Oddly, it feels like someone greased these cables. A light greasy coating on the entire cable. Not sure what it is. Maybe a result of ageing plastic. Keep in mind that these are now over 10 years old. Not a huge deal as you can simply rub it off.

The good

Looks cool
Durable

Decent picture quality
Gold plated connectors

The bad

Only decent picture quality
Slightly greasy
Monster Cable picture quality is noticeably better

I bought these being tight, only to later replace them with Monster Cables. I would only recommend them for those that only rarely play their Xbox and want to save a few bucks. Intec made some decent cables, obviously their best shot at competing with Monster Cables. They fell short but still made a pretty good component cable.

It can be hard going back to the sixth generation of videogaming. Specifically, it can be difficult to admire up close. Most PS2/Xbox/Gamecube games ditched the 2d/polygon hybrid aesthetic of generation 5 and went full-polygonal. Thing is, everything was still running natively at 480i while being polygonal, and that s*** looks uuuuugly on a modern, high-definition television. Fortunately, progressive scan can really clean up a full-screen, 4:3 image. That's what these component cables can do for you.

On this website, there are three options for original xbox component cables: you can spend a lot of money and track down the official Microsoft high quality A/V set, you can spend almost nothing on shoddy, non-shielded component cables shipped from the third world, or you can buy this middle-of-the-road solution. I originally chose option the cheapo cables and man, did they barely almost work. I had wavy lines running all over my fairly nice Sony tv, as well as a disconcerting buzzing noise. Then I got these ones.

They work pretty good! I mean, they smell funky and have sort of an oily finish to them, but in the end, they are heavy, well-shielded component cables that give a nice, crisp picture on modern sets. So buy these up for the meager 15$ asking price while they last, because they might be the last quality solution at an affordable cost. I'm gonna go play me some Destroy All Humans in 480p!

I really notice a difference in the video with these cables. The cables did have a greasy feel to them and a smell.
