this is a simple pedometer (my first ever). the clip is VERY secure and that is the main reason I bought it. I had read reviews for other pedometers and they apparently come off easily. This one also comes with a safety cord, but the description doesn't mention that. So far it has been accurate for me. I can count the steps (i.e. 20) and look down and sure enough it has registered 20 steps. I really don't think the accuracy was my main criteria though. I generally wanted to know about how many steps I was taking at work and on my evening walks in the neighborhood. It is perfect for that. I try to do 10,000 steps a day and this is an incentive. The display has your total steps for the day, and your total steps for the period (i.e. for the month). You can reset that as needed (i.e. if you wanted to monitor steps for the week). I REALLY like the fact that this pedometer has your miles walked. Lots of cheaper pedometers don't do that! You can change it to kilometers if you don't use miles. you need to set it up the first time you use it with your height and weight or it won't be accurate. It comes with instructions and an 800 number to call. Because its specific to your height and weight, I don't think you could easily share it with someone unless they were basically your same size. This also has a flip down cover so you can't accidentally hit the reset button. If you look down at suppertime and you've only taken 4,000 steps then you know you surely must take an evening walk that day! It's also handy to measure how long your walk is in miles.

The pedometer I purchased works very well. It is easy to use and lightweight. I wear it around the house and on walks to encourage myself to "take more steps." Just simple, everyday housework, walking upstairs and downstairs, plus a short walk to the post office, amounts to thousands of steps! It's fun to increase the daily total. I want to work up to 10,000 steps a day (I'm at 5000 right now).

I'm walking more because of this product.

Previously I'd purchased the one with the favorable review from Consumer Reports. That pedometer may have been more accurate than this one in terms of counting steps, but not having a cover, the buttons kept getting pushed accidentally and resetting making the whole program kind of annoying. Then the brittle plastic broke where you attach it to your pants and I ended up throwing it away.

This one is very sturdy and easy to use. The numbers are large and clear. And the cover keeps the buttons from getting pushed inadvertantly. Works for me!

Who really cares if you are getting a completely accurate step count. The point is just to walk more and I'm doing that.

I am a 68 year old granny who is quite active. I walk every day. My old pedometer only measured distance. I wanted to count my steps through this cold winter because I cannot get outside each day. I could not get this pedometer to set. The buttons are very small and you have to keep pushing them; once won't do. I went on the website for help and it shows the model but the intructions tell the incorrect color for the buttons. It is very confusing. I finally got it set. I called the 800 number and got told to leave a message. I would not buy this again.

I have tried step-counters from several different companies. The feature that makes this one the best for me is the coiled lanyard which clips to my pocket, so when the pedometer slips off the top of my pants, it doesn't fall and break. SInce none of the clips are ever failsafe for fitting all kinds of garments without coming off, this is worth a lot.

The pedometer is also very easy to set and use.

I buy lots of Accusplit pedometers from Amazon-this latest has right on it the dates 2007-2011--clearly it is an old version.

It makes a very loud clicking noise when walking and came with a new battery as of course the old one from 5 plus years ago was dead.

I am disappointed in Amazon's use of very old inventory--at the very least it should cost a lot less.

I have had the AE1640M4 for a month now and am very happy with it.

Having fallen in love with a free pedometer given to me at a trade show, I was distraught when I lost it at Disney World. Its replacement had the following requirements:
1. It must not fall off easily.
2. It must be discrete (I wear it to work and it must blend in with my business attire).
3. It must be accurate.

The AE1640M4 meets those requirements at a good price.

It has a very firm clasp that can even be difficult to take off at times (a good thing). It comes with a loop of string and clip that can be clipped elsewhere on one's clothing to keep it attached should it slip off of its primary mount (my belt, for example).

It has a plain black exterior that is very discrete. So much so that no one has noticed it or asked me what it is (this did happen with my previous pedometer).

I have found it to be within 1% accurate, and has an interesting feature whereby it does not record steps until at least 5 have been taken. This prevents random movements from being counted as steps.

This is a good, simple pedometer that is easy to use. Recommended.
