Easy as pie to replace...Save money and avoid the dealer!

Evap can valve...Dealer told the wife it'd be ~$300 to replace. She called me and I told her to relax and that her Traverse wouldn't explode if it was bad. It's a $30 part. I can't see how it's $270 in labor. Nonetheless, I ordered this critter and went to install it. When I noticed that it was literally right under the hood without doing some sort of circus act contortion to install, I was livid that the dealer wants to charge that much. On a 2011 Traverse, you literally lift off the plastic engine cover, unplug the harness going to the sensor, unbolt the sensor, and replace. It literally took 10 minutes to do and most of that time was looking for an extension for my ratchet!

Save some money, order online and do it yourself!

If your check engine light are on and you are the type that likes to keep pumping gas to round off to the next dollar then chances are this will happen to you. Not to worry for this is an easy fix so don't take it to the dealership.
First remove engine cover by lifting it up, there are nothing to unscrew other than the engine oil cap.
I took pics of the location and all you need is a 10mm socket to remove the part.

Update 12-14-16
I filled up the Impala today and i didn't have the turning over issue I had before. It started right up and for me the hardest part is to remind myself to stop pumping gas after it clicks...lol
Also the engine light did not come back since install and appears that it fixed the issue. The codes I had on the OBD was p0496,p0442, p0014.

I purchased this sensor for my 2013 Chevrolet Impala. I had just purchased the car a few months before and started getting check engine lights indicating there was a problem with my gas tank leaking vapors. I tried and tried but couldn't get the light to clear. After doing some research I realized that the problem was my own doing. Prior to this car I had an old Lincoln Towncar that when getting gas I would top off to get the most mileage from a full tank. When I got the new Impala I continued the same thing topping the car off when getting fuel. What I didn't know was by doing so, I was clogging up the valve located in the engine compartment. After replacing this valve (which only took minutes) and not topping off my tank when getting fuel, I haven't had a problem since.

Instead of $52.79 I'm quoted at the local Chevy dealer, I get it delivered free by prime for $30.44 at Amazon.

Why pay dealer diagnose fee, inflated labor and jacked up retail prices when it takes 1 minute to replace this item. P0442 is always either a gas cap with a deteriorated o-ring, or a leaky purge valve. Look on youtube on where its located, its about the most convenient location possible on most gm cars. Held by one 10mm bolt. Remove it and try to blow your breath through it. If you can, then its broken. You should not be able to blow any air through with your mouth.

Amazon said that this did not fit my GMC Acadia even though it replaces the exact same part numbers that a more expensive version does, which said did fit my vehicle. This is a genuine ACDelco product but it is made in Mexico. The only difference between factory and this is the assembly location. Original one removed from 2012 GMC Terrain was made in Germany. Obviously production was moved bc it's cheaper but that doesn't mean it's still good. I just hope it lasts.

Install is easy for most people with a basic lvl of skills with hand tools and patience. It took me about 45 minutes. I also no longer round up to the nearest dollar when pumping gas. Doing that ( over filling) is what killed the first one. Once the gas pump handle clicks, you should just pull out and put the pump away.

Had the CEL on with error P0496 just like many others. This was on a 2015 Traverse. Installed the replacement valve under 5 mins and it was simply simple to do. I did however get slightly discouraged as the CEL remained on for a few days. Yesterday, however it did turn off on it's own and all appears to be well. So, if your CEL remains on after the initial install, give it a few days and it may turn off as mine did. Very happy with the replacement part and very happy I was able to save a ton of money on my car insuranc... I mean save money by bypassing the dealer!

Perfect OEM part, and it took me less than 10 minutes to change it out. Going at a very slow pace. lol. I used this on a 2010 Traverse AWD LT2. The bolt it a 10mm. To take the hose off the nipple, that is under the power plug, push the green plastic pieces in, with your fingers. Like your squishing a marshmallow. At the same time, push very gently, toward the purge valve, then pull back on the hose, and it should slip right off. Pull straight out on the valve. It is just a plastic piece that is inside the valve cover, so it can break off.
