Dries delicate flowers with minimal breakage
This is my third order of this silica gel as I like to dry larger quantities.I don't understand the negative ratings for this product. It is fine silica, so yes, if you're not careful you'll get it all over the place. But it is perfect for drying flowers, especially more delicate ones, without squishing them. Take a look at the tiny dried bluets in my hand, the stamen are intact! And the pansies came out oerfect with hardly any loss in color.I am drying whatever I can find on wildflowers and garden flowers that will be suitable for resin art later on in the year. The fine texture of this silicate keeps the shape of the flowers intact and for the most part preserves the color as well. Only roses tend to turn brown, but that is their nature and not the silica's fault. I am very happy with this product. As for the color, the silica itself is white, but it has some light blue granules mixed in that turn a faint pink as the silica picks up moisture from the flowers. Spread onto a cookie sheet and dry in the oven at 250F for at least 5 hours to dry it out. It can be reused over and over.

5.0 out of 5 stars Follow instructions- don’t use microwave option
Reviewed in the United States on June 8, 2019
Works great when you follow the instructions. Some of the flowers fall apart when dry- I caught lilac right at the end of the bloom and really wanted it to work. All the little flowers fell off with every small movement after removing from the desiccant. As a last resort I tried crystal spray enamel and sprayed the entire flower- holding up great now. It’s been a couple weeks. I was worried that any residual moisture would be trapped in and rot the flower but looks like not. So excited to make dried flower wedding bouquets- I’ll get to have all my favorite sprint flowers in my late summer wedding!

4.0 out of 5 stars LOVE THIS, but misleading!!!
Reviewed in the United States on October 3, 2022
I read everything pertaining to this, and it claims you can use over and over... unlimited use. I'm not gonna lie... I love the how my flowers come out after drying in the silica. BUT... IT'S NOT lol!!! I'm not gonna lie... I feel I got my money's worth! I used it through 2 summers. But I wish I knew a better estimate of how many uses I actually got or of it... because my last couple uses ruined a big batch of someone else's flowers, for an order. And it didn't slowly stop working over time... it went from perfect to crap! Some of these flowers were dried over a year ago in the activa... but the last pic, they molded because the activa didn't work. But the last flowers I did, before I realized what it did to the other ones... TURNED TO MUSH!? Like I said, I love the product and it's worth the cost. I just wish it gave a more realistic use claim... cause I ruined flowers thinking the silica would last forever lololol

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for wedding flowers!!!
Reviewed in the United States on October 30, 2020
Worked like a charm!! Used them to dry my wedding flowers. Make sure to leave the flowers in for at least a week (I left mine for 3) and you will NEED at least two bags. I used a full two bags for a small bouquet and I really only put my favorite and best looking flowers in when I did it. One bag was delivered with a hole in it but I just put it in a gallon sized bag and it was fine.
