ADOLFO Story ADOLFO sardina, best known as ADOLFO, began his successful fashion career in Paris as a milliner apprentice to balenciaga, a time when hat designers were accorded as much respect and attention as dress designers. American buyers admired his work and encouraged him to come to new york. In 1951 he became a designer for the milliner emme, where by 1955 he had received the coty fashion award for his innovative and often dramatic hat designs. In 1962 ADOLFO opened his own salon and began to design clothes to show with his hat collection. During this period, as women gradually began to wear hats less often, ADOLFO's hat designs became progressively bolder. His design point of view held that hats should be worn as an accessory rather than a necessity, and this attitude was carried over into his clothing designs as well. In 1969 he was presented with a special coty award for his contribution to design in the world of fashion. ADOLFO applied his concepts of fashion and design to the menswear business beginning in 1976 with a collection for the famous house leon of Paris. In the time ADOLFO has been in men’s wear he has won much acclaim. Today his designs and inspirations are found in a full line of clothing and accessories. “a person can look put together without appearing too rigid or too extravagant” says ADOLFO. “if people are astute enough to combine clothes with different accessories they can create their own fashion. We all must maintain the freedom to show off individuality. Fashion should be revolutionary, but always in the direction of good taste”. When not on the road for personal appearances, ADOLFO can be found from dawn to dusk working on new ideas in his design studio. There is only one ADOLFO. One inspiration and limitless expression.

However, while the watch has a date complication, the numbers are incredibly tiny and virtually impossible to read unless you have good eyes and plenty of light. Also, while the watch has a moonphase complication, there doesn't seem to be any way to set it directly, so I'm having a hard time judging how accurate it is. Pulling the crown out to the intermediate setting will allow the date complication to adjust, but turning the crown in the other direction results in clicks that don't move the moonphase. However, the moonphase can be adjusted by just setting the time forward repeated; over 24 hour cycles, the moonphase does move. However, the displayed moon image doesn't show a half-moon. Basically, it has new moon, crescents, full. Obviously, this is because it's a cheap watch and doesn't show phases like more expensive watches with better moonphase complications.
Other areas where the watch betrays its inexpensive origins:
* The watch face has printed lines as a background design; more expensive watches with similar lines actually have the surface etched or engraved.Read more ›
