1090MHz ADS-B Flightaware Antennas

This antenna took a little effort to set up but the results are well worth it. I'm running flightradar24 on a raspberry pi. Previously with the standard nooelec usb dongle antenna, my max range was about 40-50 miles. With this antenna I've been able to track aircraft out to about 150 miles. Previously the most I've tracked simultaneously is maybe 5 or 6 aircraft, now it's not uncommon to see 40+ aircraft tracked simultaneously. To get this to work with the nooelec usb dongle you will need the following cables and adapters: N-type male to SMA-Type male cable of desired length and SMA-Type Female to MCX-Type Male jumper. For installation I used a 10' galvanized 1" conduit and some screw clamps to secure it to the chimney. This is a must have for an ads-b enthusiast

Great upgrade from the Radarbox antenna

I got this as an upgrade from the Radarbox antenna. Because the RB antenna has its cable attached I also changed up the cable so I'm not sure if the antenna or the cable made the difference but I got about a 20nm boost in max range just from that change. The new antenna's mounted in the same spot as the old antenna.

It's hard to compare the performance of this against any other similar antennas because I went from an indoor not-even-resonant handheld antenna to this thing on my roof. Needless to say, it kicks the indoor antenna's butt fairly comprehensively. I went from about 40 messages per second to about 250 when I switched over to this, and that's with 50ft of 9913 coax. I have yet to trim the coax and add a filter, but even without those tweaks, I'm more than happy with the performance here.
The construction of the antenna feels very nice, on par or better than other Comet and Diamond stuff I have. I wish the antenna mount was a little more flexible, but for the cost, I'm not complaining. It's definitely robust and the included hardware (u-bolts, nuts, washers, lock washers) is also high quality.
I dunno how well it will hold up, but so far I'm quite pleased!
