So much better than the Cobb oil soaked filter. Look at the size difference! I can confirm easy fitment in the SF intake box on the 15-17 Subaru STI. I was getting knock all of a sudden and it was because the MAF sensor was oil soaked from the Cobb filter. A quick blast with MAF cleaner and the knock disappeared. Dry filter = a win!

2013 STi. I replaced my Cobb filter with this because I wanted to do away with the oiled filter. It did take some modification to the air box and to the plastic tube as well as the bracket the tube mounts to because this filter is about an inch longer than the Cobb one. I cut 3/8 of an inch off of the tube where it inserts into the silicone hose. I cut a taper on the U shaped cutout to allow the MAF to move away from the fender without interfering with the box and finally I had to bend the bracket slightly 5* so the cone pointed down slightly. Overall I’m happy I did this and it fits great now with plenty of clearance around it.

Not really much to say on this one. People who buy these products to gain maaaad power and show off to their friends will be somewhat disappointed. Throwing on a pod filter isn't going to do much, except make some extra noise, but if you want one, this does the job.

I went with a pod filter because my engine bay is seriously cramped, and this freed up a bit of room on the cool side of the turbos. It makes the spool noticeably louder, but there's no performance gains or anything like that.

It does what it should though. Keeps small animals and trees from being sucked into my turbos and coming out the exhaust ground up like hot dogs. Not having to oil is is a fantastic thing, as well as just being able to wash it when it is dirty. It's a no frills, unmariated piece of chicken breast, and that's all you want from it.

I ordered this to replace an existing AEM-21-206DK. When it arrived, I assumed it was the oiled filter that had been mistakenly placed in the box for the AEM-21-206DK, as the bag inside the box that housed the filter had "21-206D" on it. It also looked completely different from the grey dry-flow filter that I already had. It looked, for all I could tell, like an oiled K&N filter. I returned it for a refund.

I waited a few months until I REALLY needed one, and ordered it again, only to receive the same thing! I returned it again.

I then ordered directly from AEM, thinking that they'd be SURE to get it right. Well, when I received my order from AEM it was the same thing! I called AEM, and expressed my concern. It turns out that it was all a misunderstanding.

Apparently AEM has partnered with K&N for their air filters. K&N is now supplying the filter elements, and they are made to LOOK like a conventionally red-oiled K&N filter while in fact they are a dyed dry-element filter in a wire "sandwich" (just like is used on the oiled-style filters).

At any rate, I just wanted to leave this review so as to prevent others from experiencing the same confusion/frustrations.

I have amended my rating to reflect my satisfaction with the previous product, as I would expect that this new filter ought to outperform it. If my assumption proves incorrect, I'll update this review again.

I replaced an "oiled" type filter from Cobb that, unfortunately was sent to me unoiled by the manufacturer (they are supposed to be pre-oiled) after I discovered their omission months after installing the intake. AEM makes a great filter that works on many aftermarket intake solutions and not having to worry about over oiling and the resultant MAF related issues is a bonus.
