Varimotion is the first technique that allows the production of a microphone diaphragm whose thickness varies along its diameter. I've never had high acoustic quality headphones before so when these went down to less than $80 bucks I risked it. So glad I did. I use them with my Marantz receiver/Teac CD player and my iPhone. The sound is amazing compared to my over the ear Sony's and my Philips in ear headphones. I've tried them with a variety of genres and every mp3 and cd is like listening to them anew. Theres a sense of depth and nuances that just blossoms. I'm also glad that they're not bass heavy as so many of the ones I've tried are. I noticed the vocal range seemed just a bit light even though it's very clear. It might just be a matter of my brain adapting to the new stimulus. Still the quality of sound reproduction is quite impressive to this non-audiophile. My only real complaint is that after a hour my ear cartilage starts hurting a bit and I don't think my head is particularly large lol. I'm hoping that as they losen up this will improve. Please note these do not have an in line volume adjuster, I only say that because a lot of people look for that, not because these headphones were advertised as such.

These have to be the worst headphones I have ever owned. A big disappointment coming from AKG; I expected better. The amount of low end that is produced is a joke. The mid to high end frequency is very crisp. These are not for any music that has bass in it. Also the 55ohm resistance seems much higher, about 125-250ohm; thus the volume has to be turned almost all the way up. But the more expensive larger headphones from AKG or any other manufacturer.

I read the specs, view reviews before I chose this headphone because I'm picky and I listen to music a lot; music is life, my girlfriend also said that. So I'm happy to pay more than a hundred bucks for a headphone. Overall, I think this one is ok. It's great if you listen to vocal, R&B, jazz, ... but for heavy bass music like dance, rock, or even classical, I don’t think its bass is good enough. Someone said its bass is concentrated not “blur”, I agree, but somehow it’s weak to me. I think I need an amplifier. I think about it.
