UPDATE: raising rating from 1 star to 4 stars.
After returning the initial headphones, I got a replacement set and they're awesome.
The noise cancellation function is very good. Sound quality is good but not great.
They're reasonably comfortable but if you wear glasses (as I do) any over ear headphone will cause discomfort after a while.
Battery life is very good.
Bluetooth connectivity and range is excellent.
Can't turn noise cancellation off.
Can mute the microphone.
No USB-C charging. IMHO, in 2018, all non Apple device charging should be USB-C. Micro USB is okay but this world be a small but impactful upgrade.
Overall, these are very good headphones for the price point. Likely not as good as the Bose but for almost $150 less, they're well worth it.
I own several different headphones- Sennheiser 650, 598, PX250- all wired headphones- some of these have been mentioned as sounding better in previous reviews- yes they all sound better- but they are all wired headphones My Senn 650s are 300ohm headphones you need a $300 amp attached to the wire then they are among the best sounding cans out there, but a load to lug around..- The AKG 60ncs come with a plug- you plug thet wire into the AKGs and they sound better too- I bought them for the wireless feature and for their small size for airplane travel- these are perfect for traveling- the sound is great too. I find these are my go to headphones now, even at home because of the wireless feature. I would not pay $300 but these are worth it if the price point is under $200
As I use these for traveling, the fact that they fold down compactly and are relatively light is a big plus. Bluetooth pairing is extremely straightforward and unusually well executed compared to many devices I have used. Use with the supplied cable is easy and the sound quality equally excellent (or possibly slightly better). I have not experience any discomfort from the ear pads, with up to a couple of hours of continuous listening. The noise canceling is terrific, and a delight as I do much of my listening on long rides on the bus (I'm a long-distance commuter).
I can't speak to long-term durability, but these seem very well built, and the included soft pouch is very handy. All in all, I'm delighted. The only negatives are the placing of the volume and pairing switches on the right-hand speaker, which can get confusing, and the fact that they are a little loose on my head.
Edit: Just over a year after purchase, I experienced problems with the headphone speakers detaching from the headset. Though easily repaired with a spot of adhesive, I find this very disappointing. My comments about the sound remain favorable, but I have dropped my rating due to this build quality issue.
One little thing that I didn't expect to have is...
When Im in the silent area such as my house when kids are in the school, I can hear mild white noise through the headphone when I don't play music with power on & bluetooth connected.
But I have to say it's pretty mild sound so I can disregard it. Furthermore how many times would I wear headphone without playing music?
So I like this gadget, I am using it everyday and I will use it for a long time because I like it.
Sound cancelation not as good as my old Boss QC15s, but good enough.
Wish there was an auto power off feature. Also, as a bald guy, I wish the top band had more padding. On long flights I get a sore indent on the top of my melon.

I have wired Sennheiser Momentum 2 headphones which, in my opinion, have better sound than other more expensive brands. I am very pleased with theses AKGs which are almost as good. The N60 NCs have good clarity, decent sound separation and have the added benefit of noise cancellation.
Real bonus; I can't believe how comfortable they are. The N60 NCs are lighter and put less pressure on my ears than the Momentum 2s which makes extended listening a real joy. Not had any issues with battery life which at 15 hours should be more than enough for most people. Just remember to charge them up overnight.
Being wireless I can wear them all round the house and are delighted with them. I have Cambridge Audio Melomania 1s wireless earbuds which have decent sound, but nowhere near as good as the AKGs. The Melomania 1s are less comfortable but have the advantage of being sweat proof so have been relegated to gym use and ideal for long sessions on the exercise bike.
In summary, the sound quality is excellent for a pair of on-ears, noise cancellation is good but for me, the real bonus is how very comfortable they are.
Highly recommend them.
They failed to pair with my iphones 6s, 5 or 4s. Spent time checking my bluetooth connections, turning off and on all devices, all of which were finding eachother. After initial success with the Macbook Pro, it failed to pair the second time (Id unpaired them while troubleshooting for the phones).
The sound was flat in that it lacks bass compared to my AKG K451. I can't believe they're made by the same company, and that they cost SO MUCH. Anyway, sending them back for a full refund.
Pro - They really sound fantastic, not in I'm sure super audiophile quality league although I don't think I've ever experience that, but they sound better than all other headphones I've owned.
Pro - The noise cancellation is brilliant. I've got AirPod pros and they beat them hands down for sound and noise cancellation, although the AirPods are still excellent and obviously are for slightly different situations. Also have use of the wife's Sennheiser mb 600s which are noise cancelling headphones for offices etc, and the AKGs beat those for nc and music.
Pro - They connect between devices quickly and seamlessly, no glitches or drop outs. No need to disconnect from other device, just connect to the new device even if already connected to another device.
Con - They hurt my ears after not too long in use due to on ear design. But so do the AirPod pros in a different way.
Con - Don't feel overly premium.
Con - Comes with shoddy cheap soft case that will need upgrading.
Middling - Battery life - 15 hours, should be enough in most situations but some more would be nice.
Firstly Bluetooth connectivity is outstanding in all respects; sound is superb ad droput-free and connectivity is quick and reliable with both my Google Pixel 2 phone and Apple iPad Air 2. Perfect.
Cable connection I expected to be even better but bizarrely it isn’t for some reason, seemingly a bit fussy about the source and very dependant on being powered (ie noise cancelling on). For example it sounds fine plugged into the iPad with NC on but rather thin and tinny with NC off. Connected to The Pixel using Goggle’s headphone adapter it sounds ok (but not as good as via Bluetooth) and if I use a much better adapter which sounds great with my Senhesser phones it sounds truly awful with the AKGs, bass-heavy and very boxy. All very odd.
Not to worry though. Since the Bluetooth works so well I doubt I’ll have much need to use the cable connection :-)
The sound quality itself is great, there no muddiness at the low end and the high end is never shrill or brittle.
Battery life is awesome - I flew London to Dubai with an added 3.5 hour bus ride plus hanging around the airport for 3 hours, roughly 13.5 hours playtime on one charge.
Unit also feels quality - i just tope the rubber by the headrest doesnt wear out as it it on my previous AKG Y50 unit
Was a bit hesitant about paying a lot more more for items shown as best in class such as the Sony or Bowers and Wilkins offerings when looking at reviews on line.
The AKG NC60 seemed to feature and perform well compared to more expensive models and is "on ear" which is what I was looking for. (hate anything IN my ears and OVER EAR models are heavier, bulkier and more akin to heavy earmuffs which make you sweat.
Placed order for the AKG's late on Friday - they arrived Saturday on prime.
So far so good. More compact and suitable for travelling than I thought.
Overall feel and sound V Good. Responsive to my adjustments on Spotify with Equaliser settings / bass boost.
Carrying bag , Din cord if you want to hardwire to your phone/tablet, USB charging cable and Airline adapter Plug for in-flight use.
Maybe there not as good as the Sony or BW equivalents....but I rate them highly for the money and brilliant for travelling or outdoor use.
The noise cancelling system is impressive for on-ear headphones: you are not totally isolated (which is something I don't need) but you notice the difference in terms of the listening experience and background noise removal.
I am definitely happy with them for sound quality, noise cancelling, portability and comfort. Great job from AKG
The only cons would be the size of the ear piece means it’s not completely covering your ears and will fall off if you are running / jogging or bending over. If you are ok with this trade off, go for it.
If you are a deep bass lover like me and size is not a factor, the Sonys might be a better option for you.
The main problem was that the noise cancelling was virtually non-existent. I compared them to a number of different NC headphones and earphones (BOSE, Apple, Amazon, Boltune, Jabra), and these were the most disappointing for noise cancelling. I realise that they are on-ear rather than in or over ear, and that this wouldn't block noise but I'd have expected some discernible difference with constant noises, and I didn't really get that.
