This is a review not only for the product but for the Vendor.

I have several friends who own this product and know what to expect as to it's performance at this price point so I doubt seriously that my review will be any different. It will do the job that it should do as expected and if not, I will update this review accordingly.

However, if you have any hesitation about ordering from 3rd Party Vendors, you can feel safe with ANYTHING ordered from VIP Pro Audio Inc.

I originally bought a refurbished unit from them as I've had much success with refurbished items in the past. I've ordered thousands of dollars worth of Refurbished equipment over the years and had no problem doing so again. That's where the problem began however.

I received the product as respected, opened up up to test it out for the gig I had the next day and instead of the Wireless Instrument System I ordered, I received a Wireless Microphone. Not only was I now going to be the only tethered couple at the party the next day, I was very upset so I quickly set up a return for refund, as that was the only option available.

A day or two passes and I get a call on my phone from VIP Pro Audio Inc.! What? How can that be? As I spoke to the caller, it became clear to me (only at this time) that there was a communication error somewhere as I was being told I ordered the wrong item. As I got that straightened out and worked out the shipping back to them, I had grown even more upset.

They didn't stop there however. A second e-mail to inquire as to the status of my refund garnered yet another call from them and not only had my item arrived, they wanted to fix their mistake and asked if they could try.

By the time all was said or done, I had spoken to them on the phone at least 5 or six times and end the end, had a BRAND NEW item they purchased at their own expense OVERNIGHTED to me and delivered to my door just this morning...the day before Thanksgiving.

As I just informed them via e-mail, in all my online purchasing dating back to the dark internet ages of the year 2000, has a vendor done so much to get me the product I ordered...NEVER.

You can be certain that VIP Pro Audio Inc.will make it happen, even if there is a mistake. I truly hope this helps someone somewhere.

Not a pro unit

This product sounds good enough but you can expect some occasional static/interference during a live show. It isn’t terrible but it does fall into the annoying category. If you are a working pro playing clubs save up a little more and get a higher quality unit. If you are new to wireless and not gigging a lot this might be a good piece to start with. I don’t hate it....but I don’t love it.

The first AKG WMS 40 unit I received was defective. The LED on/off light did not work, the volume control was physically frozen, and would not turn, and the adapter cord was wrong, It had a female 1/4' jack instead of 1/4" plug for the guitar. I decided to have Amazon send me a replacement, and the replacement worked correctly, and had the correct adapter cord. After reading the reviews for sub $100 systems, I felt this would be a good choice for me when I practice. While in the past, I played professionally it may not be the best on-stage, but for practice it works very well. The distance is about 25-30 feet before it starts cutting out. The sound is very clean, and I can't tell the difference between it and a hard-wired cord. I have yet to determine the battery life. The on=off-mute switch on the transmitter is a bit light-weight and not sure how well it will hold up, but we'll see. I had looked at the Audio-Technica System 8 ATW-801/G-T8 but since it was not UHF, I opted over the AKG.

A wonderfully liberating device!

I love this thing! After many years away from my guitar and playing, I decided to dive back in (now being retired). I'd forgotten what a pain in the but the guitar cord had been. It didn't take long before I looked like the dog walker with a leash wrapped around my ankles. I knew, in this day and age, there had to be a better way and this was it. I looked at a variety of units on Amazon and watched the reviews on YouTube and picked this one. Some folks have complained about the length of the cord from the transmitter to where the cable plugs into the guitar. My solution was to clip the transmitter to the guitar strap at the rear of the body and take up the slack in the cord with zip ties. It works well. My only beef is the 1/4" plug with its little coiled steel spring where the cord exits it - it's a bit flimsy. Fortunately there's a place not far from me that is more than capable of replacing the cord with one that is much sturdier. The freedom this thing affords is wonderful - no more tied ankles. I did get some static and noise out of it and discovered that it doesn't like to be placed close to some pedals - especially the TC Helicon Harmony Singer. I relocated the AKG receiver about five feet away from it and the problem disappeared.

Convenient for apartment use

I purchased this set to use with my xbox when playing 'Rocksmith'. Typically you have to plug in the cable from the guitar to the xbox when playing rocksmith. It was an extra cord hanging out in the middle of the room. I had found that those cords were fragile and wouldn't last long from moving it out , moving around on the floor...plus we have a cat who'd try and bite it. So I bought this. Hooked the transmitter up to my guitar strap and had the receiver plugged in to the xbox usb cord. Have a minimal space to play and practice, and I am usually <10 feet from the receiver when playing. Hardly any static when turning the devices on, and never have any static/noise while playing. Never have to worry about that cord any more as it is tucked away. This is very convenient for my purpose and I definitely recommend it.
