In Alannah, we have the continued love story of her and Damien. While they are living together and all appears to be going great, Alannah is still pulling away from him. She keeps saying she want a future, marriage, and kids with him but when he proposes, she continues to say no. Which of course totally pisses Dame off.
We do get some insight as to why she is pulling away but she doesn’t want to bother anyone with her issues … we’ve seen this before with her unfortunately. It takes an unfortunate event that happens to her an Bee to get her to come to her sense’s. We do get a HEA for them as well as little unexpected bonus for the couple.
We also get updates on all the other members of the family/group that we love so much. Poor Bee’s second eggo preggo, Ry and Branna’s twins, of course lots of Alec time and stories (and his little bundle of joy).
My favorite parts...
*The Alannah/Bronagh scenes- Gods, they say the funniest & most honest things when they're together & I love it so damn much.
*Angry sex with Damien- So, so good... *le sigh*
*The babies/pregnancies- They brought such a big smile to my face! Those Slater daddies are adorably swoon-worthy!
My only complaints...
*I really wish this series had dual POVs, so we could see things through the guys' eyes on occasion. This book was screaming out for more from Damien.
*Things were a teeny bit over-the-top with Alec's antics this time around, in my eyes.
This book is a MUST-READ for fans of the Slater Brothers series! The sneak peek chapter for the next book, Brothers, was such a treat! (And in Dominic's POV! YAY!!)
I really enjoyed this novella but the plot was kind of all over the place and I could tell it was kind of there just to have some sort of plot but really, it was all about the character moments. Which, I'm more than ok with. I love that this series as a whole is more character driven and it's just about a group of friends/family falling in love and living their lives.
Sometimes the writing could have been tweaked a bit here and there in this novella but overall I really enjoyed getting this little peak into Alannah and Damien's life. I definitely wanted more but that's what usually happens when I read novellas. However I will say that I thought this book could have touched a bit more on some of the issues Alannah and Damien have in their relationship instead of just brushing them off but other than that, I think the author did a great job.
I found myself laughing my eyes out and tearing with so much emotion in the blink of an eye. By the end of it I had the biggest grin on my face and the biggest lump in my throat. Just knowing that this great series that I love so much is just a book away from ending is too damn sad to deal wit right now. The little surprise at the end only made the experience more difficult to bare. And yet, I would read and re read this book (hell, this series) for as long as I breath. Because no matter that it is about to end, the Slater Brothers deserve to be a part of my and everyone lives forever and ever.
Alannah is haunted with nightmares, so when she can't sleep, she slips out of bed attempting to not wake Damien, and heads to her office/studio. She goes back to drawing the portrait of Jules, one of the twins of Ryder and Branna. She has been working on it until Damien scares her and drags her back to bed.
Damien wants to get married and have babies. Alannah has told him no each time Damien proposes. But it doesn't stop them from loving each other.
Damien is the last of the Slater brothers to have babies and he wants to get started. Alannah wants to wait until the right time...
ALANNAH is a beautiful continuation to her and Damien's relationship. They've been thru so much that they finally come out on top. No Spoilers here so..... But I have never laughed so much. Her arguments with ALEC are classic! A good read and a sneak peek into the future too. I know a book has me hooked when I find my self reading 📚 in an Irish accent!!! As horrible as that may be, because trust me I would be banned from Ireland if a native heard me. Now on to buy the paperbacks. Get them guys AMAZING series
