I bought this for my cousins daughter as a birthday gift and she had a lot of fun with it, despite my cousin not loving the idea of bringing messy hair color in her house. (Whoops!). ;)
It’s easy to apply the chalk to the hair and definitely shows up best in lighter blonde hair compared to darker brunette. One of the chalk pens broke within minutes of using it so that was a little disappointing but other than that, all the others worked fine.
Overall, I think this is a fun ‘craftivity’ especially for kiddos 6 and up! Just be sure to consider asking the child’s parents about it before giving it as a gift. ;)

My daughter have black hair and the colors showed up pretty well. It doesn't look as bright as in the pictures on the box but the colors do show up. It's doesn't take too long to get the colors on to your hair but you can't do it in a minute. It still takes some time. In my opinion, it's easiest when you put your hair in the palm of your hand and color it with the hair chalk. The color will get on to your hand but it washes off really easy. If you hold it for a long time or if you rub it against something really hard it will come off but if you just touch it, the color doesn't rub off. You can sleep in it and it won't rub off on your pillow. It won't rub off on your clothes either! It will get on a brush if you brush the colored hair but again, you can always wash your brush. I think this is a great product. My daughter loved it. This would make a great present for a girl under the age of 14.

This is very cute and very easy to use. My daughter loves the colors of the chalk (which is more like a sort of greasy crayon) and the beads. My little boy likes to get streaks in his hair, too. Before I tried it, I was a little concerned that it wouldn't wash out of my daughter's blonde hair, but it was no problem at all.

My only small complaint is that it is a bit time consuming to apply. Her hair is only shoulder length, and it takes about five minutes to get good coverage on one lock of hair. Be prepared to get some on your hands. It goes on best if you use short strokes, and to do that you have to have your hand behind the piece of hair you're working on. But it washes off of skin easily, so it's not a big deal.

There is plenty of chalk to last a good long time, and we've had lots of fun with this kit.

This product does not turn hair the bright colour shown in the ad. It is difficult to apply. You have to press hard and smear it into the hair like a soft pastel crayon. The product is gummy. It causes the hair to stick together in unsightly clumps. It is hard to wash out. I will be returning the product.
