While the beds are colorful and have good texture for manipulation. These particular beads are awful. The orange pieces in particular are too small as is a yellow piece. My son is 7.5 months old and was able to stuff a whole piece in his mouth in 2 seconds. I know he will not choke on it, but the piece could very easily get stuck. There are other brands that have larger pieces were mouthing it will not be a concern. THe idea of the toy is a great one, this particular one is too small and the plastic is not durable.

I bought these at the local educational toy store when my daughter was around 8 months old. She has enjoyed chewing on them, and likes swinging around a long string of them popped together. In the last month (she is now almost 12 months), several of them have lost their male ends, so there are lots of little choking hazards floating around. The plastic is thin, so I think the more you pop and unpop them, the more likely they are to fall apart, then you are left with trash. I have seen other brands of higher quality. If I buy any again, I will not get this brand.

My son absolutely loves Alex pop beads. He is two and at first he had problems with the connectors but now he has no problems putting the pop beads together. The only con is that you cannot connect into a circle. I gave this product 5 stars because it does help with my sons motor skills and color selection. I work with him on naming all his colors and he is spot on. I would reccomend this product to anyone looking to further develop their childs' motor skills and color coordination. Perfect for children between 2-4, possibly older.

This is a really cute set. My daughter loves the different textures, and of course she loves to chew on them. It's just a tad pricey for what you receive, but I'm happy overall.

They tend to fall apart easily on some of the combinations. I really wish that the molds were more consistant so that this didn't happen. Then on others they were hard to put together. But all in all a good set since I no longer have the ones from when I was a kid.

My kids love this and helping with their fine motor skills. I got all three types and they love playing with. My teething one loves to chew on them too, but so far no problem with that. I just have to keep a very close eye on him when they are playing with them.

I bought the Pop beads for my cousin who will be a year old in April. While she's still too young to put them together, the various colors and textures spark her curiosity. She loved holding them and touching them, and chewing on them too! The product is durable and the pieces are fine for kids to chew on. Overall, I think it's a great toy!

I got these award winning popbeads for my son for his first birthday. At first his interest was limited to getting me to take off the lid and then he would intently shake the container making a huge racket and the beads would start flying out. Great fun for him!!!! He still adores this "game".

At about 15 m my mother was watching him for the day and she taught him how to pull the beads apart - POP! - and push them back together - SNAP!. They must have spent three hours plus doing this and they had a blast. And he continues to enjoy it - very proud of himself when he pulls them apart. Lots of clapping is always involved.

Pulling apart the beads and putting them together (even with help) are definitely developing his fine motor skills.

I really think the suggested age for these is a bit young - an infant could fill and dump but not much else. It takes a bit of strength and coordination to even pull them apart and putting them together is much more challenging and so far has required a little help from an adult. With some shapes being more challenging then others. (I do wonder if we got a particularly stiff bunch as the popbeads that came with our Alex Jr. builder set seem a lot easier.)

I also wanted to note that the plastic these are made of feels on the cheaper side - but so far has held up to a lot of toddler abuse with only a few dents. I was concerned that my son would chew on them and break off and swallow an end but again so far no problems and my son puts everything in his mouth and has a full set of baby teeth. But I do think that if an adult wearing shoes stepped down on one straight on it could be squashed.
