REVIEW: More than a basic tricycle, the Ready Set Go! Trike by Alex is a three-in-one system that grows with your child. Suitable for children 10 months and up, this cleverly designed toy starts out as a stroller trike that parents push, then converts to a freewheeling roller that parents can help control, and ultimately becomes a tricycle older toddlers can pedal and ride on their own.
Safety features include a parking break, non-slip pedals, and a steering bar for parents. For convenience, a rear-basket holds belongings and a bottle holder carries drinks.
For parents who want a training tricycle their children can use through the toddler years, the Ready Set Go! Trike offers a three-step system to ease children into riding on their own. Kids will be thrilled to pedal and cruise, and parents will appreciate the control this trike allows them.
Phase One: Push and Stroll
The Push and Stroll phase is for children 10 months and up. At this stage, caregivers steer the trike using the adjustable five-position handle. Safety features include a high-backed seat with headrest, a safety bar, and a seat belt. Supportive footrests fold down to support your baby's feet, so he or she can become familiar with the feel of pedals.
Phase Two: Start to Roll
When children reach 15 months of age, they'll be ready for the Ready Set Go! Trike's Start to Roll phase. At this stage, caregivers can remove the trike's headrest and safety bar. While parents still control the movement of the toy, they can pull out the clutch to unlock the handles and give their child a chance to steer.
Phase Three: Pedal and Go
The Ready Set Go! Trike's final phase is for children 24 months and up. At the Pedal and Go stage, caregivers can detach the steering handle, fold up the footrests, and push in the clutch for a complete trike with non-slip pedals and rubber wheels. Then, parents can watch as their newly independent cycler joyrides like the big kids.
Safety Features for Peace of Mind
The Ready Set Go! Trike is designed with safety in mind. A removable safety bar surrounds your child at the first stage, providing reinforced support so your little one stays securely in the seat. Additionally, a harness-style seat belt holds your child firmly in place, preventing unwanted side-to-side movement.
A parking break is built into the back of the Ready Set Go! Trike, so parents can easily halt the toy with one foot. Non-slip rubber wheels and pedals maintain traction, so riders stay on course.
Finally, a detachable sun canopy helps shield your child from the sun and easily adjusts to your preferred angle.
Handle, Footrest, Basket, and Drink Holder for Convenience
During the first and second stages, parents and caregivers will appreciate the control that the trike's handle allows them. The five-position handle adjusts to your height, so you feel in complete control. For growing cyclists, a footrest folds down during the first phase, then folds up and out of the way for the second and third phases.
For added convenience, a tilting rear basket gives you a place to store belongings as you steer your child around the block. A drink holder at the front lets children bring their bottle or sippy cup along for the ride.
The Ready Set Go! Trike has several parts, but it is relatively quick to assemble if you follow the directions. The trike is easiest to put together if two people can help--that way, one person can hold up the trike to keep it from rolling after the wheels are attached.
Be sure to firmly insert the two back wheels until you hear a soft click. Also, apply some force to the footrest's release button--it can be a challenge to engage. A standard wrench and an Allen wrench are included, but you will also need a Phillips screwdriver to complete the assembly.
This trike measures 27 by 18-1/2 by 39 inches (L x W x H) to the top of the handle.

Top customer reviews
Other than a couple minor issues putting it together, it was far easier to put together than many of the reviews suggest. It would have been even easier if I had followed the online video rather than the paper directions given in the box.
Of course we have only used it in the Stage 1 (10+ month old) and not the higher levels yet, but it looks like it will be easy to transition and seems solid.
It is adorable, and Zev seems very secure in it. I think 8 or 9 month olds who can sit on their own and are crawling, standing/cruising while holding onto things can use the Stage 1 with constant supervision.
We are very happy with our new trike!
- Shade is a nice touch, but blocks my view of lil guy, so we rarely use it.
- Steering is easy enough, but use caution so you don't flip the bike.
- Basket & cup holder are great additions.
- Plastic wheels don't seem very durable, but they are holding up so far.
- I like the harness type seat belt, but my guy wants to stand on the foot pegs sometimes, so sometimes I just buckle him at the waist.
No more stroller for our neighborhood walks, it's the Big Boy bike all the way! Factor all that into the great deal we got on it, I'd give it an A++!
Because they thought of everything from the shade, to foot rests to shoulder straps....everything. Because she cries when its time for her to get off.... then cause we can keep her in it and ride around the house with no fear of marking a thing...
Because i dont have to bend over endlessly to control the darn thing....and cause she'll use it for years to come... i hope... cause she's a really tall child, n its not the biggest bike...
Guess we'll finish this 'review about a year from now...
BTW, it shipped in a decent sized box and while the assembly required some thinking... it wasnt nearly as complicated as some have suggested.
