I wouldn't recommend this to friends but personally I do like Mr Konkoly books, they are well written if you enjoy CIA, FBI intrigues. I have now read three of his books and keep my eyes open looking for bargains in his books. I enjoyed this novel, plenty o excitement and he is an excellent writer when it comes to describing shoot outs etc.

Konkoly offers a well-written, explosive thriller in the tradition of Flynn, Thor, and Clancy. The delightfully flawed characters (Petrovich, Berg, Sanderson...)are richly drawn from an author who clearly enjoys spinning a tale. Sanderson, the puppet master, is an especially wicked treat. With "Black Flagged", Konkoly has created the beginnings of an epic franchise which has already delighted a justifiably large audience. There is a gray line between the good and the bad, but Konkoly makes clear for whom we should root and why. While it's a departure from his best seller "The Jakarta Pandemic", this is as masterfully constructed with a deeply satisfying conclusion. Konkoly illuminates the modern-day tension between American intelligence gathering agencies and concocts a plausible scenario about which I want to know more. This is a great start to a series with, I hope, many power-packed sequels.

If this is how our government's Homeland Security cooperates with the CIA, FBI, Armed Forces, Local Police & Boy Scouts (tongue-in-cheek), heaven help us all! Book had so many characters, theories, conspiracies; I personally got bored with it all and almost gave up on finishing the book. Not my type of read, but check other reviews out carefully and see it might interest you?

Disappointed after reading your The Perseid Collapse Series Books which in my mind is the best so far.

This story runs at breakneck speed and is a great escapist story though keeping the huge cast straight is challenging. If you like distinguishing the good guys from the bad guys early on, you might be a bit frustrated. I found myself speed reading to see if the twists and surprise "reveals" were as predictable as they seemed. They were. Still, it was a decent story which kept me on pins and needles through about 60% of the book. Then plausibility broke down. Pretty good story, but I don't think I'll read the rest of the series.

If you are looking for a conspiracy theory and subscribe to an anti governmental movement this novel will give you a boost toward your goal. Fast paced, exceedingly bloody and violent. must be read with full attention lest details (even names) be overlooked.

At first I was a tad confused, but at the story progressed, I got more into it. Quite a thriller, with spies, assassins, a political thriller, FBI, CIA,guns blazing, knifes slashing, who are the good guys and who are the bad guys? I agree with David Toppings that killing the female detective threw me off for a long time. Was she a killer sent by the FBI/CIA or just a policewoman doing her job? I read the author's response, but I am not 100% convinced...But the action part drew me in and kept me into the book.

I will follow up this series soon and read the 2nd book in this series: [bookcover:Black Flagged Redux|13644862].

I'm stingy with stars. I think 3 stars ìs average so most books should get three stars. Also, this type of book is really not my thing. That being said, I think this was an excellent book. It pulled me in quickly. It kept me interested and wanting more. The only negative thing: I was a little confused on who weye the good guys. But I guess that's a bit like real life, all people have some good and some bad.

Well, how many police, investigative, and security agencies do we have in this great country of ours? Not to mention clandestine, unsanctioned groups. Who are the goid guys and the bad guys! You keep wondering. Great intrigue and action.

With immense dexterity, the likes of which I've not seen by even the most renowned authors in the political/espionage thriller genre, Konkoly delivers a clear winner with Black Flagged. I found Daniel Petrovich an authentic protagonist, which is crucial to my reading enjoyment. Too often, authors paint their protagonist as invincible, handsome beyond believability, and with few to no character flaws. Petrovich bleeds. Another element worthy of note in Black Flagged: Konkoly, with as many characters as he weaved into the story, was considerate enough to include a cast of characters at the novel's beginning. That may seem insignificant, but for a reader like myself who reads multiple novels at a time and has limited memory, it was a major asset. In regards to his writing style, Konkoly possesses a clear mastery of pacing and characterization. He's certainly one of the best I've read, and I look forward to reading more of his work in the future.
