I'm also right-handed, so, I had to switch the handle & when I use the trigger is attached, it's a bit tight & can be cumbersome to operate. Which leads to another bit of a problem. Unfortunately, attaching my Nikon trigger to the bracket is also a bit problematic. It's not flush, therefore, it doesn't fit snugly to the bracket, not even with the included washers. Then result is that when I depress the trigger, it moves, spinning a bit off-center.
It would be great if they made the casing of a more rubber-like substance which could withstand a little more wear & tear. The casing for the trigger wire which attaches to the camera is made of a fairly brittle plastic. The nub for the wire actually broke off & it looked white, as though it were an old piece of plastic.
Nevertheless, I love it's portability, the fact that you can use a small umbrella & if mounted on a tripod, this bracket would function well. It doesn't take up very much space in my Lowe Pro Backpack. I would love to see them improve the stabilization a bit. It's a great idea which probably works better when using a camera without the battery pack attached. I'd like to see them make a few modifications. especially to the part that holds the trigger attachment.
As crazy as it sounds, I still like this bracket, a few slight modifications & this bracket would be great!
Pros:
1. Does a lot more then others. The speedlight can be adjust to be really high in the air for whatever reasom youd want to do that but I like that you can. Maybe you have a snoot on your flash & want it to have dramatic lighting that beams down on your subject like an alien coming in to land. Well you can
2. Swivels & flips & dips & dances
3. Youll look a lot more badass becuase people dont know what it is & it makes both you & your camera look more intense
4. Locks your camera in tight & is pretty comfertable to hold
CONS
1. Im hard on my equipment but with that said the little pad there in the picture that screws onto the bottom of your camera broke. That tightening pin busted on mine after 1 year so I cant use this anymore
2. Takes some time to use & cords get in the way. I go between using this & doing other things. My camera strap also screws into the bottom of my camera so if I want to switch from using this back to just using my camera its not very quick. The cord from the flash to camera tends to get in the way. I guess I could get some velcro to solve this problem but Id rather complain
3. the area where my Canon Mark II sits is a little small so when I swivel the camera from horizontal to vertical my camera rubs on the metal area to the side & has made my Canon look abused. If your the person the spit shines their camera & tucks it in at night you wont like this braket.
4. It does alot so I understand but it IS bulky.
After using this would I reorder now that its broke? If I was a videographer yes. If I only shot one style yes. For weddings where I want to use & then stop using it quickly no unless you use the standard canon strap which on a side note you shouldnt. (Check out the joby strap & thank me later its life changing http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0096JZRE0/ref=oh_details_o00_s01_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
Update
The PromediaGear is easy to use, but impossible for me to use on a Nikon D500 with their universal plate. The plate gets in the way of the battery compartment door. It might be better if they come out with a custom plate and use a left hand version. I have decided to keep the ALZO and return the other.
There are several reviews of the ALZO that comment on how difficult it is to re-attach the camera plate after you remove it to mount the camera. There is a fix for that (ALZO should have done this) but you mount a QR clamp to the camera plate one time, you then never need to remove that plate again and the camera slips on and off as easily as on and off a tripod with a ball head.
The other complaint I see in the reviews is the fact that it is hard to reach the camera shutter button. It is not hard, rather impossible. There is an easy solution for that as well. mount the camera such that the ALZO handle is on the left side then you cn hold the camera and the bracket. and your right hand is where it normally is, no problem with the shutter button. Actually I find it easier to use that way.
