This refresh makes the 200GE, 220GE, and 240GE obsolete with 240GE-like clock speeds out of the box and fully unlocked CPU and GPU overclocking as an official feature, all for a slightly lower price than the 200GE. This is a dual-core Zen 14nm chip with Vega 3 graphics.

My particular unit was able to achieve an overclock of 3.8GHz all core on the CPU and 1600MHz for the GPU. While this chip only officially supports 2666MHz ram, but I have been stable at 3200MHz.

This provides an experience of smooth general daily tasks and 720p or 900p gaming without a dedicated GPU.

I have since paired it with a GTX 960, and have not run into a game where I cannot get at least 60fps, so the CPU by itself has plenty of power for that.

Perfect APU for a home office PC

This APU is perfect for a home office. APU combines CPU and GPU into a single chip, so no graphics card is required. This APU will use 2GB of your system RAM as a graphics memory (as long as you don't use a video card), so make sure you get enough RAM for your build. When a video card is installed, and monitor is not connected to APU motherboard port, all of the system ram is available. It's easy to overclock this chip to about 4GHz with voltage increase to about 1.4V. While the stock heat sink is included, I have installed a bigger one that I already had for a nearly silent operation. It works well with ddr4 3200 MHz in XMP profile, but probably it does not benefit much from RAM faster than 2666 MHz. I have tried, out of curiosity to run some benchmarks and games. It is capable to run newer games at almost 60 frames per seconds at 720p with low settings. If you want to play games with this APU, spend $40 on eBay for a used video card and you will get 6-7 times faster game performance.

This little APU is the king of budget builds. There just isn’t any way around it. I never OC my builds (well not permanently) so the fact that this APU is fully unlocked doesn’t matter to me. What does matter is the $50 price tag and at that price, you can’t lose.

This little thing can run a 1080P monitor under any circumstances south of high demand productivity and serious gaming. I mean, you didn’t buy this thing for a gaming rig, right??? The cool thing is that with its AM4 FF, you can upgrade. Let’s say you have a good GPU in you old build that just died, this CPU will get you through on a budget until you can afford that Ryzen beast you’re eying.

I only knocked off a star because Amazon put “gaming” as a rating criteria. This little chip won’t game without help. If you’re on a budget, this little guy will get you through.

This processor is amazing. It's a $45-55 APU (which means it's a CPU with stronger integrated graphics) that runs off of modern hardware, meaning it is wonderful for those looking for a noticeable upgrade path in the future. The support this APU will likely get into the future is wonderful, and if all you do is office work then I don't see any reason to spend more money. The same is true for gaming, as if all you want to play are popular multiplayer games like Fortnite, CS GO, League of Legends, etc., on a limited budget, as long as you are okay with lower settings, you can even do it on the impressive integrated graphics. If you're looking for emulation, too, this is a wonderful processor. It can also perform well in many modern games, if you plan on using a budget GPU like the 1050, 1050ti, 1060, or 1660. Of course, if you plan on playing all the latest games at max settings at 60fps or higher at a 1080p resolution or above, you'll likely need to look elsewhere. It's also great for overclocking, even on the included budget cooler.

For my use-case then, which is as a college student who does light last-gen gaming whenever they aren't working on classwork, this APU is wonderful for just that. It being a dual core may cause issues in modern games, but I eventually plan on upgrading it to a Ryzen 5 since it supports the same architecture, saving me the additional money it would have costed me to purchase a Ryzen 3, while I wait to save up the money. The only issues I've really had is with Minecraft, as it is a game that loves cores no matter what GPU you pair it with (so if you plan on playing Minecraft, I'd recommend at least a 4-Core Ryzen 3), and that it runs so cool that the integrated fan might honestly be overkill, but if all I can really say is that it runs too cool, then this is a pretty cool purchase.

One last thing I will say, modern Ryzen and Athlon APUs love ram speed, so be sure to pick up the fastest ram speed you can afford, and be sure the ram is running in dual channel mode for extra performance (this means instead of buying one ram stick of a higher capacity, buy two ram sticks at lower capacity that can run in dual channel).

With some overclocking skills you can have this run any game 720p on high settings! That is with the integrated graphics. That’s a $270 computer build that’s fast and affordable. Add a gpu and you can be playing any modern title. I have paired these with rx570, rx580 and gtx 1060 6gb. All run great!

It's not the fastest processor out there, buts it's very adequate. Also windows 8.1 does not block updates when running on it. After I have my computer to my dad whose 13 year old cad rig finally gave up the ghost I had some parts - ssd, gtx 960 video card , a wraith stealth cpu cooler and some ram. I got a b450 main board and preordered a 3300x since May, but it still hasn't arrived and I pulled the plug and got an athlon 3000g. The main board drives the cpu at 1.277 volts on all auto. When fixing the voltage To the same value the cpu can remain stable at up to 3900mhz , and under the wraith stealth reaches 65C at 28C ambient. 65C is where I draw the line on CPU temperatures anyway, and pushing it more than that (or over 1.3v) is not advisable. I use it as HTPC and for some light games such as Cities:Skylines and Stellaris where FPS is not the goal. It reminds me of the $30 Duron 1300 I got way back in 2003. Same great value, same easy to overclock potential.

Note that this Athlon does have built in graphics (not all the AMD line do) this means this will work without a GPU - if you buy eg a Ryzen 3 1200 (which is similar to this) it needs a graphics card - hence I think this Athlon 3000G is great value for money!

Its on the AM4 motherboard platform so you can upgrade to some really fast kit without the need to buy a new mobo for some years to come

This is the cheapest new CPU I have ever purchased £45.49, known as an APU as it dose have graphics onboard, ok for desk top stuff but NOT for games. Been playing with the settings for a few days now, 3000G is running at 3.95Ghz @ 1.45v, ( 3.5Ghz stock )graphics running at 1650Ghz @ 1.2v ( 1100Ghz stock ), RAM @ 3200Mhz, idle temp 30Deg, max 70Deg but not with stock cooler (Ryzen Wraith Stealth) . As I use Cad on a daily basis I have been testing the Athlon 3000G against my Ryzen 5 2400G, on multi core applications the the 2400G was always going to win, but AutoCad is not an multi core application and the 3000G is a little quicker than the 2400G, in case you are interested the 2400G is also running at the same speeds as to 3000G, if I was a betting man I would say the 3000G is a 2400G cut in half, I can only explain the speed difference is due to the 2400G being second generation and the 3000G being third generation, zen / zen+ technology. 3D Cad dose work but would be better with any Pci-e dedicated graphics card.

This is for a PC that will only ever either watch you tube or play small games like rob-lox, Fornite and Minecraft, as a push you can play AAA titles please research this on you tube, for under $50 this is simply the best chip that has built in graphics, the chip can be over clocked, but don;t expect miracles it performs well at stock, but as with all zen based architecture make sure you get fast ram it does make a difference and could yield you extra performance. I know due core with SMT might not sound alot but for a home theatre or start PC for a child there simply is not a better alternative for under the $50/pound mark.

You need to buy the right ram first, you're best to get a kit because the dual channel will give you that little extra bump, with a gigabyte a320 something - it was scoring about 930 in cpuz benchmark but with a bit of bios fidgiting i was able to get it up to near 1100 multithread test. no cpu adjustment just ram tweak - standard 2666mhz crucial ddr4 pushed to 3200mhz, 3466 stable but went with tighter timmings.
