its a fire breathing dragon with a six pack!

well its a monster power hungry and fire breathing like a dragon.if I didn't end up with a questionable package with no heat sink and all that comes with trying to cool a 125 watt cpu with air in a small form factor case it would be 5 star but this is 2 points 1. with amd heat and 2. with amazon first order ever gone wrong. I did order a real cheap case that was so cheep it was not even in good shape out of the box but that order was on me.
what ever the hell you need a computer to do this $125 cpu can do it.i ordered a replacement I will update if it has the heat sink. I would like to know how a shinny new cpu gets packaged without a heat sink?
but some things gone wrong with orders will remain a issue of traffic I think

first thing a amd gaming rig must change is disable windows core parking. for me that's the difference dropping under 30fps from 55-60fps. most amd vs intel youtube videos are missing this and in my opinion the new fx design is not 100% compatable with windows 7 core parking.
now I could have saved getting fx-6300 but im not a big overclocker. I do wireless gaming on small form factor pcs no need or use for cases bigger than the one I use now for me, so im running the fx-6350 underclocked 3.6ghz base 4.2ghz boost cool and remember amd boost is based off tdp so Netflix and youtube runs cool under 40c then for games its like ch-hiss on demand power toping out at 64c.
now im waiting on Silverstone st-30sf psu and hope the temps top out a few less than 64c with power being properly delivered to things like the two coolermaster 80mm low profile fans that don't have voltage control like the cpu and cooler fan graphics card aswell.
that drives the point that a standard for psus need a universal standard both xion 720p psu and Silverstone psu are rated 300 watts but if the Silverstone used the same power rating standard it would be 360 watt psu. this is even a hazzard to advertise psu rating based on max wattage not 24 hour strait power level rating witch for the xion psu would be 230 watt.

Nice Budget CPU

The 6350 has performed great in my budget computer. I took a 15 sec 4K video on my Panasonic G7 and add a Panasonic Cinalike D Luts in Sony Movie Studio Platinum 13 with no GPU rendering and it took 3:21 seconds to render in AVCHD 4K. It works very well with Photoshop & Lightroom CC. That is with 8Gbs of 1333 DDR3 and a XFX R9 380X on a 970M Pro 3. Altogether for about $500.00 it is a nice computer that runs well.

Unless you're a massive streamer or some kind of powergamer who needs to see every single ounce of power pulled out of their Machine, then get this.. for those that need those things. Go intel.

You will not notice any difference. You'll get varying reviews from Intel Fanboys just like you'll get diehard AMD fanboys saying AMD is better.

I'm telling you, save your money and get AMD. Unless of course you absolutely need to sleep better at night knowing you've sucked every ounce of juice out of your system and min-max everything.

Great for overclocking!

Like many here I upgraded my system for a better game playing experience.

System specs:
Asus M5A99X EVO R.2 motherboard
MSI R9 270 Video Card
4x 4GB 1600mhz Ram
Sandisk SSD

The FX-6350 overclocks very well. I can go up to 4.35 GHz with default voltage. After that the cpu needs more voltage to be stable. I have had it up to 4.5 and am sure I can go more but heat starts to be an issue. Even with the fantastic Lepa AquaChanger 120 liquid cooling the fans will be howling at some point. I find the sweet spot is 4.4 GHz with a cpu voltage of 1.3125. Turn off all the power saving stuff like "cool and quiet" for best stutter free playing. There are plenty of articles out there to read if one wishes to overclock. You will need a better cpu cooler. I never even bothered to use the supplied cooler and used a EVO 212 at first. When using Prime95 my temp thermal margin gets down to around 16 C @4.4 GHz (if you don't understand "thermal margin" look it up). Overall core temps can get up to mid 50's C. This is with keeping my fan speeds down and quieter. There is a trade off for speed and quiet, I don't want to sit next to a wind tunnel!

I am currently playing Fallout 4 with great results. It will play on Ultra fine but sometimes bogs down when the ghouls attack en mass, but playing on High works perfect. This game will test your machines metal to be sure, it's a beast of a game and needs a beast of a computer to run it.

I find this product to be a great value and recommend it!

Bent pins, but otherwise I've heard it's good.

I've heard that the 6350 is a pretty decent cpu, however, I have just discovered that several of the pins were bent, causing the cpu to be inoperable. Unfortunately, I didn't notice this for several days, thinking at first it was my motherboard, an ASUS M5A97 r2.0, which I RMA'd and replaced with the 970 gaming pro/aura. I am soon to RMA that as well, along with this CPU, as I can't be sure which part is defective. I only noticed the pins were bent when the cpu warning light on the 970 came on at boot. I starightened the pins and the light went out, but I'm still having a problem. The problem I'm having is that I can't get video output from my computer, and at the moment it's running off an empty drive with a tried and true PSU (a seasonic 650W), and I've tested with a Sapphire HD 7850, which I'm trying to figure out if it is defective, and an ASUS r9 290, which I know for a fact works, for a gpu, both of which power up, but neither of which output video. Hopefully if you buy, you will have better luck.

I haven't yet used this but the price was right. This AMD 6 core processor is a great speed & capability for the price, and isn't an 8 core which basically are useless for single-core task items. Better than a slower quad core that costs more, also beats the specs for most i5 Intel processors. Shipped quickly and came in a sealed factory box. Planning for a home office, home built computer. Not going to be used for gaming, nor intense video processing, just reliable day-to day activities.
