this is a great procesor, runs incredibly fast and can be overclocked at 3.5Ghz just by changing the multiplier. The best thing of this procesor is that if u have the right motherboard (i uses a GIGABYTE GA-MA790XT-UD4P to unlock it)u can unlock the other 2 cores and instantly get an Phenom II 950 BE

I purchased this item and it arrived on schedule. The instructions provided in the box were easy to follow and the Fan/Heatsink were ready to go out of the box. I had no trouble installing it into my motherboard and it worked just great when I fired up the PC. Great product and I would recommend highly.

I bought this processor used a couple of years ago. The seller did a great job with it and included a stock cooler which came in handy. He thoughtfully cleaned off all the thermal pasted from the heat sink. This processor has exceeded all my expectations. The best thing about it is that it was unlocked by my motherboard and has four fully functioning cores. I can't say enough good stuff about it. I haven't even tried to overclock it due to temperature constraints, but I have no doubt that it would do fine. Computer that I use this chip in runs as fast as can be expected for the hardware configuration and is a great budget system. I would recommend this for a home theater PC or any basic setup. It can do more intensive processing, too, as long as you have a setup that can meet the thermal and energy requirements. It is hit and miss from what I understand about whether you will get one that unlocks more than two cores, but I was lucky. I think the TDP is higher than modern chips, but if you want a reliable processor that does its job, and have a board that is a few years old, you can't do much better.

I have a Gigabyte, GA-890GPA-UD3H motherboard and have tried multiple AMD processors with it. A phenom II X4 955 black edition, two of those and this 550 cpu. All three ran great and then just died. I tried a zalmon cnps9900 cooling fan,
I like it btw. but did not help in the end. I do not know why they failed, it may be in the way I set up the bios or somthing in the motherboard, or it could just be AMD. I don't know. Anyway I am not going to spend any more money buying new processors, I will let this sit until I can afford a new board and an intel processor.

This is an amazing chip. Some of the chips can be unlocked to add an extra core, mine wasnt one of them. Chip is still as fast today as it was when I installed it. This chip has handled everything I have thrown at it. Audio and video editing, photoshop, and even CAD work have been no problem for this chip.

I was hoping to unlock the other two cores on the processor to make it a X4 but they were bad so I had to keep it in X2 mode. It only takes mild nerd level and youtube to figure out how to unlock the other cores. Other than that it has worked well for the C.O.D games so far. I also overclocked it to a 3.3ghz and no issues.

bought a used one, saved about 50 bucks. very fast, I only have 4 gig memory but it is night and day compared to my old system. I'm running a msi 7641 board that cost less then the drive. I'm not a gamer but this thing is fast.

I have always been an Intel guy, but this time around I researched all of my Bang-for-the-Buck processors and MB combo's. I got this Phenom II X2 550 Black for about $90. The CPU/MB combo from tigerdirectcost cost $159. You can hardly get a descent Intel cpu for $159. My Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit experience score is like 7.2 for the CPU. My Gigabyte MA785 MB allows over-clocking and the ability to unlock the additional cores. Proceed with caution on core unlocking... I don't think one or both of my additional cores work, as I blue screened after my first attempt and barely got my windows build back up... This is by far the fastest machine I have built and This processor is great right out of the box.
