Product Description
The Radeon Vega Frontier Edition workstation graphics card is built for the innovators, creators and pioneers of the world, whose passion is to pursue what is new and different. Based on the latest "VEGA" GPU architecture, this card features four Next-Gen Compute Units (nCUs 4096 stream processors) and massive 16GB of cutting-edge, second-generation high-bandwidth memory (HBM2). It delivers reality-changing performance that drives the new digital world, nurtures creativity, and paves the way to parts unknown. You can expand the boundaries of whats possible and witness the impossible. And with the latest features found on the Vega architecture at its core, you will have no barriers or compromises to what you want to achieve. The AMD Radeon Vega Frontier Edition is available in air-cooled (300W max. board TDP) and liquid-cooled (375W max. board TDP) options. This item is the water-cooled model. Empower Scientists to Explore New Frontiers Training techniques used today on neural networks in machine intelligence and deep learning applications have become very complex and require the handling of massive amounts of data when training those networks to recognize patterns within that data. This requires lots of floating point computation spread across many cores, and traditional CPUs cant handle this type of computation as efficiently as GPUs handle it. The Radeon Vega Frontier Edition, combined with our ROCm open software platform, paves the way for pioneers to continue pushing boundaries in fields like AI. Developers can now leverage the power of Vega architecture to do machine learning algorithm development on the Radeon Vega Frontier Edition graphics card before deploying it out to massive servers equipped with Radeon Instinct accelerators. Harness Vega to Fuel Creativity Design visualization is playing an increasingly important role in helping manufacturers

This card makes short work of the games I throw at it. I'm pretty sure I'm bottlenecked by my CPU now (i5-2500k). On the benchmark of Tom Clancy, I get at least 34 FPS at 3440x1440 on Ultra preset, usually more like 45 AVG. I'm happy with that, personally, as I grew up on the original Halo: Combat Evolved (30 FPS on the original xbox). Everything else I play is just laughably simple for this card.
True to the memes about AMD graphics cards, this card ages like fine wine. On release, it traded blows with the Nvidia 1080 (consumer flagship), and in October of 2018, it now trades blows with the 2070 RTX. Sure, it doesn't have the Nvidia-specific RTX cores, but no games use them anyway at the time of writing.
If you're into hard numbers, this card will do 13.7 TFlops (single precision). That's better than a 2080ti, which posts 13.4 TFlops (and that card is $200 more expensive, without liquid cooling). This card also comes equipped with a nearly-indecent 16GB of graphics memory. You'll have the choice to run gaming drivers or professional drivers, easily toggled from within the driver menus. Also, as all recent AMD graphics cards do, this card supports Freesync.
The only aspect of this card worthy of any hand-wringing would be its power consumption. It is a toaster oven. Fortunately, I live in the grand old US of A, and if I ran it balls-extended for 8 hours every day, my power bill would go up by $10/month (including overhead of the rest of the computer and a lamp). If you can afford Netflix, you can afford the power consumption of this card.
TL;DR: If you like AMD better than Nvidia, or you want professional drivers for less-than-professional prices, just buy this.
Got the card for 3D modeling and animation endeavors and I'm pretty satisfied. I haven't OC'd yet and I am not sure I will anytime soon. I've done two experimental or benchmark renders (using Blender) and on the fishy cat scene with no changes I get 5:36.4 and if I change the tile size to 320x270 I get 4:36. Very pleased. Better than over 20 minutes with my 1070 and better than the 10 minutes with 1080ti.
No regrets, just wishes of being able to justify getting another one to my wife's 😂
If you didn't get it, no video card inside. The foaming is pretty nice though
