My motherboard since its an ITX from MSI it was having issues with my AMD 2700X when I upgraded my graphics card to a RTX 3060 since before it was zero issues with my old GTX 980 ti. Games were stuttering, I was getting temperatures to 85 to 90c. My whole PC would shut down with the 2700X just for upgrading my graphics card. Then I was watching benchmarks and reviews that this processor is great for gaming which that is all I needed, so I dont need so many cores. I got this processor on sale which use to be $300 and was down 70% so I had to get this deal ASAP. I did install it I still had issues only if I turn on TPM the firmware on but when it was off I had no issues plus I have Windows 11. Its bit of a nightmare having an AMD processor and having TPM and secure boot on in your bios settings but I was getting very bad temperatures. I had no choice but to get a water cooler since I can't go back to Window 10 and now its working fine and the games have zero stuttering and works perfectly fine with my RTX 3060 even with slow ram that is 2666mhz instead of 3200mhz. That might be my only next upgrade when RAM goes down in price. This is the AMD processor I really need it for me to last me more than fives years for the next upgrade.

Outstanding CPU for gaming and production.

I purchased this CPU as an upgrade to my Intel i5-9400F as a life-long intel fanboy, having used a range of i5 and i7 CPUs and even recommended or built PCs for friends utilizing intel CPUs as well. I needed something more powerful to help me do music production work without breaking the bank, and this fell into my watchlist. My friends who work in the tech industry convinced me to give AMD a try with this particular CPU, and it is mind-blowing the sort of performance this 6 core CPU is giving me, at easily 3x+ the performance of the old i5 I had (and I was thinking about upgrading to an i5-12600K originally). This is FAR cheaper, and I cannot imagine the 12600 provides any significant performance benefits - if it even matches the performance of this CPU in the first place - despite costing $80 more at the time of writing this review (there are no ongoing sales nor scalping at this time either). It runs cooler than I ever thought an AMD CPU could as well, never surpassing about 65 degrees Celsius while air-cooled on a Hyper 212 Evo CPU cooler even at sustained 100% usage. I cannot speak for the included air cooler as I promptly threw that one out in favor of the larger Hyper 212, but then I would advise not using the included CPU cooler to everyone regardless of the CPU you're purchasing, be it intel or AMD, cheap or expensive. Nevertheless, to reference my tech friends again, they do say the included cooler is not awful.

If you're purchasing this for gaming, the only game I have seen this CPU max out to 100% usage on is Star Citizen. Other games I have tested tend to reach the limit of their optimization or hit the 144 fps limit I have set on my PC long before the CPU gets maxed out, and it certainly outperforms my now-outdated GTX 1080 graphics card, as that will max out before this does in all but the most CPU-heavy of games (as mentioned, Star Citizen). This is seriously astonishing performance at barely more than what Intel considers a 'budget' price range. I cannot recommend this enough, especially to anyone who may be on the fence between Intel and AMD like I was due to prior loyalties. Give this one a shot and you will not be disappointed.

I built my first gaming pc and chose this cpu, I’ve had it for 5 months now and it hasn’t slowed me down at all. At first I used it with a gtx 1070 and it ran everything great. recently I got a 6750xt and everything still feels really nice, sometimes it does bottleneck me a little but that rarely happens. The best thing about this cpu for me is its power consumption, if I had a more power hungry cpu I probably wouldn’t be able to have the setup I have now without having to buy another psu

The value on this cpu is impeccable. If your looking to sink your teeth into something that can handle any task u throw at it from low to mid to even competing with high end gaming or tasks. This cpu will surely do it all. Its crazy when you look at benchmarks and see how this cpu just does it all even when other ryzen 7 or 9 might have more cores or double or triple the thread count. Such a high base clock and overclock potential just really pushes this chip to be neck and neck in some categories. So if your looking for something that can get close to top end then this is perfect. If your looking to squeeze every last ounce of power and performance out of a chip. Id look for something higher and stronger. But this has by far suprised me with its capabilities and for sure will keep me an amd fan for a long time.

Would just like to state that I bought this right before newegg did a sale of the normal 5600 at 140 but I kept this because if you factor in not buying on amazon/getting 2 day delivery this is worth the $200 price point. Also, I was able to do the bios flashback on my msi b450 a pro max with ease so if you're worried about that don't be; youtube is your friend its extremely easy to do. Lastly it's just an amazing feeling knowing I can go from the budget cpu I bought 2 years ago to a high end cpu with ALL THE SAME OTHER COMPONENTS is the reason I will always stay AMD.

Yeh, I know there are better options out there, being the Ryzen 9 and 7 series exsist, but this is one beastly cpu. Like for real. I've ripped my CPU out my motherboard (bc it got stuck to the fan) and despite a few vent pins, she's working flawlessly after a year. This cpu works just as good as nearly most of the Ryzen 7 line ups. She's I think the best Ryzen 5 you can get. If you are on a budget and need a long term one cpu, this is THE best CPU you can get. Simply because I went from using a rx 570 with her, to a 3070ti. She works good with em higher GPUs.

I bought this to upgrade my 2nd gen to this one. I say I did see an improvement and I like it. I don't have much to say other then this card get hot, really hot so if you don't have a decent CPU heatsink. Whether it's water cooled or air cooled, it will be ok to over clock. But if you don't have a good heatsink, don't over clock it will get too hot. (My opinion), but if you don't have enough for the 3rd gen, but have enough for the 2nd I say just go with what you can get, They are close enough in performance I say.

Went from a i7 4790k to the 5600X, and it's noticeably faster both in single threaded and multi-threaded applications. OK, my previous CPU is a few years old, so that's to be expected, but the old processor was no slouch. The 5600X also runs far cooler. I could easily configure the fans to give me a very quiet PC with the CPU at about 65 degrees under load at stock clocks and voltages, or a very cool PC (mid 50s degrees) by bumping the fan curves a little. This was with my existing AIO though, I've not tried the cooler that was bundled with the CPU.

In games, at 1440p, I'm often GPU limited so there's no a huge bump in fps for the new CPU, and I don't expect the 5600X to be be the limiting factor in gaming for me for a long time.

So why four and not five stars? Price, and I mean MSRP, not the £400 these can appear at right now (Jan 21). Even at £280, this is quite a bit more than the 3600 or i5 10600KF (which are about £180 and £225 respectively right now). If you're only gaming, and don't have a top end GPU, the 3600 or 10600KF would likely perform as well. If you're using your PC for other things (coding, content creation etc), then the 5600X might well be worth it, but I really wouldn't pay more than £300.

Before this I had a 2700x and wondered if buying one would be worth it. After a few Youtube comparison videos I took the dive - with PBO enabled in the BIOS, I'm now seeing almost double FPS in every single game I'm playing. The fact it comes with a cooler which does the job perfectly fine (these CPU's are designed to take more heat than others) is just a bonus.

The ONLY problem I have with this is the price. It's being horribly scalped everywhere for up to £100+. AMD have released statements saying more will be released late-March (which also coincides with PS5, meaning their mutual development company is ramping up production) so if you CAN wait, please wait until March/April time onwards.

This is definitely the CPU to get (for primarily gaming) to last the next 3 years or so. I wouldn't buy the first generation of AM5 in 2022, as usually early adopters are plagued with RAM and Motherboard related issues.

Five Stars. Once availability is ironed out, you won't regret buying one.
