As of this entry, I have not used this. I bought it because it was American made AND, mostly because the product description indicated 68.8 in long, ... NOT the 58.5 inch that it actually measures. I'm digging four additional holes 16in wide, 4ft deep ... I have a 52.5 in post hole digger already, and after already digging two holes, I wanted to use something longer. This is only 6 in longer then what I already have. I DO HOPE the negative reviews I've read are not going to manifest with my new digger. I may have to edit this review in about a month or so. Please NOTE: Ames, change your product dimensions !
UPDATE PRODUCT REVIEW - After using this post hole digger, it worked great, it's a good quality tool, I dug four 16" holes, at 4' deep each with NO PROBLEMS.
I wouldn't think of using this for a daily driver tool, but it's priced at a nearly "disposable tool" level and at that level, it's certainly a five-star item.
Long term, I'd go with heavy-duty fiberglass handles, though.
