I've been using a garbage tier 15w soldering iron for the better part of 10 years because I convinced myself it wasn't worth spending the $100+ for a good soldering station. I saw all the good reviews on this kit and the price made my jaw drop, so I tried it out.
I bought this primarily to repair my oven which had a shoddy connection on the bottom bake element which had it intermittently working, but I also thought I'd try to resurrect a still decent, but dead, graphics card. Both repairs have been successful and this little iron has already saved me at least $500. This kit has already paid for itself several times over in the first week I've owned it.
It heats up fast, the tips are nice, and the included solder does the job. I'm confident that this little iron could do anything that a $100+ iron could do in the hands of someone who knows what they're doing.
I haven't needed to use the desoldering pump, but I did try and use it because it seemed gimmicky/cheap and I didn't think it would work. I was wrong, it does exactly what it's said to do and sucks the bead of solder right up.
If you're new to soldering, or have been doing it for years, this is a great kit to start with, and a great kit to have as a backup. For someone who repairs electronics, there is literally no reason not to buy this kit.
