I'm from Annapolis so this was almost required reading. :) It's written in a really odd way, with small paragraphs in the middle of each page with huge margins on each side. This was so perturbing at first I almost put it down but ended up keeping reading.
I almost felt that it was written to include SO MUCH of Annapolis that it was overkill: so many local tidbits and so much local history and so many local locations. But it was a good "whodunit" mystery and an easy read. :)

I eagerly downloaded this book to my ipad and anticipated reading a mystery based in and around my area of residence. Sadly, the book is not well edited so it is frustrating to follow. A few pages into and I was wishing that I hadn't spent $9.99.

The character dialog was junior-highish and unbelievable. I don't believe any police detective on a homicide case would behave with so little compassion and still be considered the best on her team.

I also didn't care for the use of market value to depict the character of the Annapolis area. These descriptions seemed to lack consideration of the reader and left the us wondering...or not caring enough to go on.

I hope this author gets himself an editor and has a bit more care for the reader next time out.

Being from Maryland and knowing a little about Annapolis i enjoyed reading about the places I am familiar with. The story was a good "whodunit". My issue is that there were several editorial errors in spelling, tense and actual words. There were large voids on the pages but maybe the conversion to electronic format created that issue. Keep writing though because I like your style. :)

Being a Marylander and a mystery writer myself, this book caught my eye almost instantly. It was full of suspense and very realistic. I absolutely loved it and truth be told, I'm very critical of the mysteries I read especially when it's a book set in my area. The characters are very realistic and the drama that unfolds makes the book impossible to put down! This is a book you don't want to miss!

I thoroughly enjoyed the book! I am a life long resident of Annapolis and enjoyed the references to my quaint town. I prefer to read local authors published through small publishing houses - a real grassroots effort. I can see a series of books with this character - plenty of opportunity to further develop the character! I have enjoyed the authors other two books.

This novel, is such an easy read. The authors has taken paintaking measures to ensure the accuracy of the areas. Even if you don't the city of Annapolis, by the end of the story you know secrets about this small water Capitol. And some might be better left unsaid. I loved the character development and can only imagine where the author will take us next with them. Perfect start to many many sequels about the secrets.

I enjoy James Schneider as an author and this book did not disappoint, Held my interest until the very last page a real page turner. If you are from or have been through Annapolis you will feel like you are there again.

Although the book was interesting, it was a "hard" read due to editing. Many spelling, grammar and sentence structure mistakes. How did the publishing company allow the book for release when it was not edited first?
