Patented 360º Design Outperforms Traditional Antennas
You'll enjoy enhanced reception with the help of the RCA ANT1450 digital flat antenna. The included, removable amplifier preserves signal purity with extremely low noise circuitry while amplifying weak signals. RCA digital flat antennas are designed specifically for digital TV signals, which require more precise directional reception than analog signals to give you consistent performance. Digital TV provides crystal-clear digital picture and sound, but to get uninterrupted reception your antenna needs to be aimed in exactly the right direction. RCA’s unique and patented antenna designs eliminate the guess work in digital reception, finding and delivering great digital picture and sound without the hassle of manual adjustments.

Find the right antenna for your area
Digital TV signals require better reception than analog TV signals to provide satisfactory performance (i.e. a watchable picture). If you used to get a snowy (but watchable) picture on your analog TV channels, you may find that your new digital channels do not have strong enough signals to display in this new format. Whether you live in the trees, on the plains, or in the midst of hills, make sure you find the right antenna for your individual needs.

I compared it to the GE 24775, the RCA ANT537, Philips SDV2750, and the RCA ANT 1450. If I was giving a ranking for the five, it would be as follows:
1. Philips MANT940
2. RCA ANT 1450
3. GE 24775
4. RCA Ant 537
5. Philips SDV2750
By using the signal strength meter on my HDTV, the MANT940 was the only one to receive at least 80% on all relevant stations. I had chosen a location near a window in my garage and placed all antennae there and compared their performance. The top three I listed above all performed adequately, so I moved them to a place where I would mount the MANT940 between two windows.
Upon comparison of those three in the best window location, I found that the MANT940 had most channels in the 90-94% range and one channel at 80% while most of the channels on the other two were in the mid 70's to mid 80's.
I am in northern suburb of Atlanta, GA and found that the only channel that I wanted that no antenna would pick up is the NBC affiliate, WXIA.
The converter box plugs into the TV and has a power cord. The antenna plugs into the converter box and also has a power cord. Best reception is if the flat antenna panel is right next to a window. Also the long cord from the converter box to the flat panel antenna works best if stretched out.
I'm using a power strip for the TV, the converter box and the antenna. Once I got them on the power strip and could position the flat panel near the window with the antenna cable fully stretched out, the reception was full green and perfect on all the channels (except for Thirteen, WNET). Fantastic reception and the digital signal is very good. Highly recommended. Picture quality is fantastic and boy you can tell when you're viewing HDTV.
Thirteen WNET has not yet boosted their antenna so their signal is too weak to be received. Read their statement online at Thirteen WNET.
First, although it says multi-directional, I found that I received the best reception when the flat sides were oriented perpendicular to the direction of the incoming signal. This may have something to do with my distance from the stations, but I can say it truly isn't multi-directional if this is the case. I would lose channels if I oriented it parallel to the incoming signal.
Second, with a little tweaking this guy can preform quite well. Eliminate as many sources of interference as possible. Try to keep the pre-amplifier that comes with it away from other electrical devices and sources of electromagnetic interference. Also purchase and use high-quality shielded cables, Mediabridge sells some great ones on here for cheap. Get it as high up as you possibly can as well, this will help eliminate interference from structures and trees.
Lastly, you may find that you're not getting all the channels you used to on your previous antenna. Before you throw this in the garbage, or return it, consider purchasing a better pre-amplifier to replace the included one. Take it from me, we went from 4 channels to 16 with this antenna just by replacing the pre-amplifier. We used to have all 16 before we moved with the included pre-amplifier, but when we moved we moved to an area of higher interference from structures and powerlines. We replaced the included pre-amplifier with the "RCA TVPRAMP1R Outdoor Antenna Preamplifier" (available on Amazon). This was all it took. This replacement pre-amplifier is far more powerful than the included one.Read more ›
Currently this antenna is connected to a HDTV tuner that is plugged into my computer and since the first day of use it has outperformed any other amplified antenna I have used before.
It's much more compact and easy to place "out of the way" than more traditional antennas.
Once in place you can just leave it be with no need for any adjustments.
Fairly long cables to connect the antenna to your tuner/TV.
None that I have encountered to date.
I am located within 8 miles of the three main broadcast antennas for our local TV stations. In fact, you can see them from my front door. All the other broadcast antennas for other stations are located at least 25 miles away which was why I was looking for something that could pull those signals in, all the time.
This little unit does the trick!
Once I had found the optimal location I have not had to touch this antenna once since the first week of December and I have not had any problems picking up all my local stations, even during a snow storm!
Overall, this is a great little antenna for those who want something they will not have to "fuss" with and want to be able to hide it out of site.
