I have to admit that this is my first time ever buying an off brand computer component. I was very skeptical and even second guessed myself at the store several times. The AOC had the same features as the Samsungs, HP's and what ever else they were selling at the time and to tell you the truth the picture quality on the AOC at the store looked just as good if not better than the other name brand monitors. They took off 30 bucks because they only had a display model, with a 30 day warrenty, so I jumped on it. At worse I bring it back.
Now that Ive had this home for a few weeks, Im totally impressed. The picture looks super and its bright! I cant see anything wrong with it at all. HD movies look spectacular, the only game I play on my laptop is spore. It looks beautiful. No pixal lag or anything just super brite looks almost 3d'ish. the colors are vibrant and the blacks look black.
I see some other guys complaining about the viewing angle. I can stand directly, well maby 60 or 70deg angle and see everything perfectly. Personally I prefer what they are calling poor viewing angle for privacy issues but whatever. Who looks at a screen from the side, anyways? what a dumb thing to complain about on any monitor or TV, I see it all the time.
Okey the bad........well there really is none. Do I wish it were a samsung or dell? sure If I could have gotten them for the same price or less. If you really need name brand then this monitor is not for you but I promise it is just as good if not better. I would re purchase again if I had too.
Cons: As another review mentioned, the viewing angle is not as advertised. Put up a solid color as the background, and it will look like a gradient. The effect isn't really noticeable except for when there's a solid gradient visible, but it's rather disappointing. My old Dell 2007FP (came with an old desktop about 6 year ago - I'm using it in a dual monitor setup) doesn't show a gradient even if I stand up or crouch on the floor and look at it. I'm an amateur photographer, and I'll live with it, but no one who does photog or imaging for money should get this. The general user will probably be satisfied with it.
Adjustment menu consists of nearly-indecipherable symbols with no explanation. There is no proper settings guide either online or in the box.
Love them both.

Great monitor for the price. Good refresh rate, and great response time for things like gaming. Very sharp picture. Even has a USB pass through. Read morePublished on August 14, 2013 by TechWrite
This monitor is just as good as my home monitor but at a lower price. I normally use it at work so I've not used it for videos or gaming. For the office, it's great.Published on May 13, 2013 by jack adolph
I didn't buy the product from Amazon, but it is the same monitor. I read reviews and I'm pretty sure there's a huge difference between the 2436vh and the 2436v. Read morePublished on April 8, 2013 by wader1
I've pretty much thought that a 'monitor is a monitor'--until I set up this one. Absolutely horrible picture quality. Read morePublished on June 10, 2011 by Jerel Peterson
I would not recommend this monitor for daily use, the colors are very washed out(compared side by side with a dell flatscreen). Read morePublished on February 16, 2011 by Goshen
