I bought two of these from Officemax and they are totally different. One is great, the viewing angle is good and the blacks are nice and dark. This one has an Energy Star sticker on the top left, and included an HDMI cable in the box. The MFD date, (found on the box and back of the monitor) is A510. The other one is lacking the energy star sticker and has an SRS sticker on it. This one did not include an HDMI cable, but did include a USB cable and microphone cable. This monitor is horrible. The viewing angle is terrible and the blacks are "gray". The MFD on it is AB14. I have been to a lot of Best Buy's and Officemax, and most of the floor models are the good ones and all the stocked ones are the bad ones. I have seen other MFD numbers, but it seems like all the bad ones have a "B" in the number. So, it's hard to rate this monitor because it really depends on which one you get.

The screen on my laptop went dead and after two weeks at the shop they could not repair it. The laptop works but I would need to plug in a monitor. So I went to best buy I came across the AOC in the sea of about 20 other monitors for sale.

I have to admit that this is my first time ever buying an off brand computer component. I was very skeptical and even second guessed myself at the store several times. The AOC had the same features as the Samsungs, HP's and what ever else they were selling at the time and to tell you the truth the picture quality on the AOC at the store looked just as good if not better than the other name brand monitors. They took off 30 bucks because they only had a display model, with a 30 day warrenty, so I jumped on it. At worse I bring it back.

Now that Ive had this home for a few weeks, Im totally impressed. The picture looks super and its bright! I cant see anything wrong with it at all. HD movies look spectacular, the only game I play on my laptop is spore. It looks beautiful. No pixal lag or anything just super brite looks almost 3d'ish. the colors are vibrant and the blacks look black.

I see some other guys complaining about the viewing angle. I can stand directly, well maby 60 or 70deg angle and see everything perfectly. Personally I prefer what they are calling poor viewing angle for privacy issues but whatever. Who looks at a screen from the side, anyways? what a dumb thing to complain about on any monitor or TV, I see it all the time.

Okey the bad........well there really is none. Do I wish it were a samsung or dell? sure If I could have gotten them for the same price or less. If you really need name brand then this monitor is not for you but I promise it is just as good if not better. I would re purchase again if I had too.

Pros: Crisp, clear colors. Nice for games. Inexpensive for a 24 inch monitor - I never saw any other brand for under $200.

Cons: As another review mentioned, the viewing angle is not as advertised. Put up a solid color as the background, and it will look like a gradient. The effect isn't really noticeable except for when there's a solid gradient visible, but it's rather disappointing. My old Dell 2007FP (came with an old desktop about 6 year ago - I'm using it in a dual monitor setup) doesn't show a gradient even if I stand up or crouch on the floor and look at it. I'm an amateur photographer, and I'll live with it, but no one who does photog or imaging for money should get this. The general user will probably be satisfied with it.

Adjustment menu consists of nearly-indecipherable symbols with no explanation. There is no proper settings guide either online or in the box.

I already had another of this monitor so I decided to add another one. If you work with any CAD program, these are for you. No buttons to push for adjustment, they are touch sensitive so no failing parts.

Love them both.

I have an AOC 2436 at work, and am very underwhelmed by it. It has a terrible amount of light bleed, especially in the bottom right corner. I work on the computer all day, and to keep eye strain down, tend to keep a black background with grey text, so the light bleed is very annoying, because the "black" really glows. The light bleed isn't consistent over the panel either, it is primarily in the bottom right. The viewing angles are also terrible. Sitting 2 feet away from the display, either the far left or right are always slightly color-distorted. You can move your head around a few inches and notice the color shift. It is far less noticeable if you sit further back, so it might not be a big deal for a TV or watching movies, but most people sit fairly close to the computer, making the viewing angle issue worse. Also, the built-in on-screen menu system is difficult to understand. It is made up completely of icons for every setting, with no text to explain what they are, so you either have to look in the manual, or install AOC's "iMenu" application and use that to adjust the settings to figure out what each icon means. As far as physical build, this display also falls short. A height-adjustable stand would have been nice, to help compensate for the small viewing angle, but even as it is, the stand is very wobbly. There is also a USB port at the bottom left corner, but it is pointed out the back side of the display, so it is awkward to plug anything in. By comparison, must displays with a built-in USB port will have them pointing out the side or bottom so they are easily accessible. Overall, the only thing good about this display is the price, and that it supports HDMI.
