Originally wouldn't recommend, but go through Amazon and make sure to test everything
OLD(scoll down and read "Further update") -As you can see, the glow in the bottom left corner is horrible and honestly isn't acceptable for a $700 monitor. Even after contacting Gigabyte they were 0% helpful and gave me the typical crap about how that glow is normal. Sorry Gigabyte, but I've tried everything and the glow shouldn't be this bad AT ALL times at 25% brightness and in my office with my light on. For someone who had countless Gigabyte products in my PC, from my MB to my 1080Ti, I would have expected a little more help or respect.Edit: Amazon came through and sent me a replacement monitor free of charge. It still has an issue with the bottom left, but all round this one turned out a bit better. I have nothing on the right side anymore, but the bottom left still has this weird glare and blacks look like a really dark gray which is a little off putting visually, but it's still better than the first one I got. I bumped my review up to 3 stars because of Amazon, but I'm still docking 1 star for Gigabytes poor approach to this, and 1 star for the fact that for the amount this monitor costs, it should have next to no glow, and honestly... shouldn't really have any when you look at the IPS tv's that have amazing blacks and no glow.Further update:I wanted to give a more up to date review after getting the new one since my original "Edit" was right after I got the new one and only tested for a bit and was still extremely irritated with Gigabytes approach needless to say when I tried reaching out to them and all they gave me was a Lim's Cave article about IPS glow and how to minimize which I was already well aware of and made sure to try everything I could BEFORE reaching out to both Gigabyte and Amazon for support. The new monitor did turn out much better than the one I originally got, but I will say I think this monitor does have an issue with the bottom left corner because I'm seeing several other people mentioning the same thing with this model. All in all though, this has been a good upgrade over my Asus VG248QE, which in of itself was an awesome monitor for gaming when I originally got it 6 years ago, but since I'm a web developer now I kind of wanted to go beyond a TN and use something that's still great for gaming, but I can use for work when I work from home.I'll add some updated images, but I would recommend to take them with a grain of salt since a phone is trying to capture as much light as possible, it can tend to be exaggerated. It still doesn't change the fact that you'll notice the bottom left with your own eyes on black or dark scenes, but it looks more like a glare, like when the sun is glaring on your screen, but I'll still say though that the color representations on this monitor compared to the 4k Dell I use at work and my old Asus TN are light years better, and text is easier to read once you fine tune it a couple times to your liking. When it comes to getting a new montior, I always expect to need to fine tune it for a bit and generally set a couple hours aside to get it just how I like it, but with that being said I will still share my specs in case someone wants to replicate and see if it's where they like it.My personal preference so far is:Download the OSD Sidekick from Gigabyte -I have "Super Resolution" set to 1Picture is set to "FPS" which the followingBrightness - 50 (I lower sometimes if I turn my light off, which I rarely do though)Contrast - 45Sharpness - 5Black EQ - 0Color Vibrance - 11, 12 starts to seem too much on reds in particular for meLow Blue Light - 0 (I don't change this since I use my laptop when laying down and I use settings on it)I use Gamma 1Color temp is set to "User Defined" and I useR: 90 G: 85 B: 98Dynamic Contrast is 2And of course, make sure you're using a display port cable in my honest opinion. All and all, as long as you get a good panel, this is a great monitor in it's own rights. The build quality is definitely top notch with nearly the whole stand being metal, so it's extremely sturdy. I do wish the LEDs on the back were brighter because you only somewhat notice them if your light is off, but either way.. Thanks to Amazon I have been happier with my purchase. Probably one of the many reasons I left Newegg years ago.Image details: I'm posting two new ones with the light on and the light off, and the light off has my TN to the side with the same glow test pulled up to show you the difference, so as you'll see, the blacks are still better on the IPS. Like I said, still take it with a grain of salt because the camera does slightly exaggerate it all, but I tried to minimize the light intake as much as my phone would allow to accurately represent what you'll see visually yourself.

Recently I decided to upgrade my ASUS ROG Swift PG278Q as it was a few years old and not as clear as it used to be I think it was getting ready to go. When I hit the market I was expecting to find something leaps and bounds spec wise over the ROG since that monitor was 4-5 years old now. The ROG is 1ms, 1440P 144hz G-sync, TN panel. Loved that monitor and almost pulled the trigger on the same one, but I decided to give an IPS a shot. It was a tough decision since most everything out there is only "a little better" than the ROG 165hz instead of 144hz, IPS vs TN, HDR, DP 1.4 and such. I love GB and they manufacture my GPU so once I saw this bad boy I thought I'd give it a try. It is outstanding. Crisp, clear, colorful. No dead pixels everything worked perfectly out of the box. OSD Sidekick is sweet! Screen takes a little fiddling to get it just perfect once you plug it in, I prefer a little on the warmer side with the brightness turned down and the blue light filter about half way. Been gaming on some COD and Overwatch to test her out. No tearing which I was afraid of because this monitor is G-sync compatible or free/adaptive sync but I really don't notice any difference from the ROG as far as the G-sync goes. One thing to note is that Nvidia actually lists this as officially compatible on their website which is a huge plus. It means it passed their tests.

Not really a lot of backlight bleed, maybe I won the monitor lottery on this one but other than a very light glow in the bottom corners during dark scenes there's nothing that bothers me. Oh and those viewing angles, those sweet sweet viewing angles.

Overall aesthetic is pleasing as well. Nice thin bezels, low key logo on the front. Nice RGb lights on the back although you'll never see them. I'm not using the stand because I've got it mounted to a vesa arm on my desk but it seemed nice and sturdy. All in all I'm very happy with it and I'm sure it will last me until 4K is playable at 144hz without spending a fortune.

    TL;DR
Clean and no issues out of the box. No dead pixels. Looks great. Aesthetically pleasing. If you have the cash there's no reason to get anything else.

I have been going through monitor hell so seeing the reviews about Black light bleed had me worried as I want this more for video and photo editing. Not gaming.

First absolutely No blacklight bleed at all.

It was compared up to an ASUS PROART PA27A that had been calibrated and out of the box the picture was Identical and after a little tweaking (use the display port) Absolutely amazing!

I record and edit video at 59.9 frames a second and I was getting glitching so looked at my refresh rate and it was set to 60. switched to 165 and boy is it smooth not one hiccup.

Display port 1.4 plays very well with a NVIDIA 2070 MAX Q and I was able to run HDCP compliant in seconds .

Video in HD is close enough to 4k quality to be difficult to notice much difference especially at the distance you are viewing from.

Options? more than most would need and enough flexibility that if you want to calibrate you will get a decent result.

I am sure if I spent thousands on something that you could get better but so far not at this premium price point.

This has been tested against An ASUS ProArt & LGUL850 4k monitor both 27" and they are all the same price point. they do not hold a candle to this.

The stand. The stand is no joke its a heavy solid metal stand and the handle at the top is nice. The led graphics are nice too though will never be seen once I have it set up right. The monitor resists wobbling very well and the stand is easy to use move pan or tilt.

This Monitor was manufactured in Sept 2019.

Word of warning both LG and ASUS sent me used products. the LG was a repack and the ASUS was a repack from 2017 with damage. Both blamed Amazon.

When you get your monitor use a solid black background shut your lights off and look at that screen you should have uniform black across the screen not light in weird spots.

This one was perfect so far.

Windows is a bit finicky with the monitor. Turning on HDR in Windows locks up any control you have of the monitor. Other than that it’s gorgeous. No bleeding or dead pixels and it’s a beast of a thing. Solid frame and construction makes it weigh a lot. It has a very simple stand and mounts with just a simple push. The ability to change settings in software with OSD sidekick is amazing. Viewing angles are great. Resolution is great. Coming from a 1080p at 25 inches this thing feels huge. It’s mount does take up quite a bit of space though so if you have a thin desk beware. The black equalizer helps a lot in games like escape from tarkov to lighten up the atmosphere and make players more visible but you can also get gorgeous graphics when playing HDR enabled games like Sekiro. Overall I love it and it’s weird to come back to after two years of having a curved monitor but it’s definetely worth it’s weight in gold and it’s price tag.
