About the Author

Ken Rideout has a B.S. in Honors Physics from Purdue University and an M.S. in Physics from Carnegie Mellon University. He has been teaching high school physics for more than fifteen years in the Boston area and is currently the science department head at Wayland High School in Wayland, MA.

Jonathan Wolf has taught all levels of physics at both the secondary school and college level for over 36 years. He spent 25 of those years teaching physics at Scarsdale High School in Scarsdale, New York and retired from there in 2014. He has taught introductory college physics lectures and introductory college physics labs as a member of the adjunct faculty at Hofstra University, Seton Hall University, and most recently at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, New Jersey. He is the author of the former Barron's AP Physics B review book, Barron's College Review: Physics, and was a co-author of the former version of Barrons SAT Physics Subject Test Review. He has published over forty professional papers in the fields of Astronomy, Physics, and Physics Education and served for more than ten years as Assistant Editor for The Science Teachers Bulletin published by the Science Teachers Association of New York State (STANYS).

I used this book to try and learn AP Physics by myself, and I have a few gripes with it. It isn't worth trashing, but they are problems big enough for me to take two stars off.
The solutions are there for the most part, but sometimes there are numerical errors or worse yet; vague explanations with no procedural demonstration.
-One typo can be found on question 8 of page 75 in the kinematics section, which completely invalidates solution as a whole.
The solutions can be summed up to a block of text spouting the general procedures, and it requires way more effort to derive the answers from the solution page(s).
Despite my complaints with this book, I still wouldn't say that it's the worst product out there. I have definitely seen worse.

Typos that will make it hard for students to learn the correct formulas

The number of typos leading to incorrect formulas is unacceptably high. Example, one of dozens on p 48: velocity = displacement vector over magnitude of displacement vector (delta x). I don’t think so, no - denominator should be delta t.

We purchased several different AP and SAT books and this book by Barron's was the worst. This book had a lot more typos than it should and didn't quite measure up to the others offered by different companies.

Does not reflect the new AP requirement for 2021

According to the College Board website, units 7-10 are dropped from the 2021 exam, but the book does not reflect this change. If you use this book, you will end up spending a lot of time on the contents that will not be tested.

Definitely would not recommend it. It isn't easy to follow and it doesn't follow the AP curriculum. I've used Princeton Review in the past and it is much better than this.
