If you are a Chicago Manual of Style user who is hoping to brush up on your AP style skills, just be warned this isn't really a style guide with rules and such like the CMoS. It's an alphabetical list of all of the terms you might use in stories/articles and how to style them for headlines. Useful, but not THAT useful.

I was forced to buy this for a class; it's nonsensical, arbitrary, and has little genuine merit or value -- this considering that I have the previous edition yet was forced to purchase this heap of waste anyway because it's "up to date." What a scam. Can you believe this is the 55th edition?! They just slap a few arbitrary and largely useless changes in and call it a new edition because they know teachers will list it as a required text for classes, meaning students will have to purchase multiple versions of this blasted book throughout their college career if they want to pass classes.
I'm scorned by this product; I honestly despise it and its beneficiaries.
The company overcharges for this product too, it's way too expensive. Blank pages are worth much more, as far as anyone with adequate discernment is concerned. For, at least blank pages have the potential for something worthwhile to be written upon them.
Furthermore, because of my experience with AP style, every time It comes to mind I roll my eyes and think to myself, "what dross." This style is part of the reason why mainstream news media sucks so much, it's like one can simply tell intuitively that the designers are soulless dretchlings, bureaucratic oafs, and rancorous mind defilers. This technocratic style is melancholy inducing to anyone that has a will of their own. It makes me think of the domineering oppressors from the movie "Equilibrium", or the machines from "The Matrix", forcing their way on the populous via devious means. This style is a giant monster that needs slaying, I say.
A symbol that portrays this style perfectly is this: bulky, rusty shackles tied to ball and chain. Teachers tie us to it, and it weighs us down, limiting free movement and genuine expression -- it's a disservice to the truth. Also, it's robotic, sucking a good deal of humanity from any paper written using it. I despise it. This sort of technocratic trash is what George Orwell was warning against when he wrote "1984".
Buy "1984" and read it, and do your best to waste as little time as possible on this AP stylebook trash. Every second spent looking at it, is a second abysmally wasted.
Of course, soon they'll just come out with a new edition and this grand expression of truth will be washed away by their persistent meddling, those reprobate blighters. So, treasure this review, and share it.

This is a great informative piece of literature. It clarifies many uses of modern words and phrases you will see on social media and the like. It does seem like this jargon moves at a much higher rate than an annual volume can keep up with, so there will be quite a bit of newer terminology that you won’t see in here, but I can guarantee will be in the next edition. This volume also gives you guidelines for writing in the AP style, which is a set of punctual and flow guidelines used by almost every serious journalistic company in the nation. As a journalist in America, you HAVE to be familiar with the AP style if you want to see success. I really do enjoy reading the AP style books over the years. They contain a lot of information and seeing how articulate they are each year in improving their books is interesting and makes me proud to be a journalist.
All of this being said, AP’s bias toward the politically correct, leftist culture is pretty obvious. Not knocking this, but as a journalist, I like to pride myself on trying my genuine hardest to be as unbiased as possible in my work. Seeing blatant bias in one of the most influential journalistic works in the country is a little disheartening, to say the least. I’m not saying they have to go out and offend people with their style guides, but catering to the coattails of a political faction isn’t something we should do, either. I would give examples, but you will see this bias for yourself in the book. It’s not so bad as to make the guide insufferable, but it’s there. This is just my opinion and I still hold this volume in high regard. As a journalist, I also pride myself on not shutting out people or organizations I don’t agree with. I value open discussion much more than cancel culture, which is a stain on our society.
This really is a fantastic piece of information here and if you are looking to start writing professionally, this guide book is a must. You will likely enjoy reading up on all the terms and information they include in the pages, if you actually enjoy writing and want to learn and become better at your craft. I look forward to picking up each new edition of the AP stylebook, and I don’t see that changing in the future, either. 👍

1977年に初版が発行され、ほぼ2年おきに改訂を重ねて本書で55版となった。最新版にふさわしくcoronavirus, gender-neutral language などの項目が追加されている。CoronavirusについてはCovid19…first appeared in Wuhan, China. Hendricks said that they are thrilled about the new job.→ Hendricks said that the new job is a thrill. パラパラめくっていると面白い記事にぶつかる。Email はハイフォンなしでよいが他の場合は付ける:e-book, e-reader, e-commerce. 信頼できる情報源なので、手元に置いておくと何かと便利な書である
