Best solution for poor power regions and applications requiring longer runtimes.

I do not know where Amazon and other major resellers got the info that the BR1500G "ensures electronics that have active PFC power requirements will not unexpectedly shutdown" but APC does not seem to agree with it. Just FYI.
1. Remove the 6 screws on the back of the unit.
2. Pry off the front cover.
3. Lay unit on it's side so that the 3 screws on the front are facing up.
4. Remove the 3 screws on the front of the unit.
5. Slide the cover towards the back of the unit to remove it.
6. Disconnect the leads plugged into the F2 terminals on the batteries.
7. Remove batteries.
8. Insert new batteries and reconnect the leads.
When I plugged the unit into my BR1500G UPS it basically tripled my estimated runtime per the PowerChute software. Which is exactly as expected since the BR1500G contains two batteries and the external battery pack contain four additional batteries. My reported runtime is now 96 minutes with 233 watts draw. I found no fan inside this external battery.
The BR1500G contained 2 Kung Long WP1236W batteries. 12V 9ah 36W. Made in Vietnam. This external battery pack contained 4 CSB HR 1234W F2 batteries 12V 9ah 34W.
Still rating it 5 stars. Although I'm disappointed about difficulty to replace batteries when the time comes.
Also, I'm really curious to know if the BR1500G is able to inform the user when the external battery needs replacement or if it just gives a general replace battery message for all batteries. Looking forward to seeing future reviews.
This battery doubled the run time of my UPS.
Took longer to unpack than it did to install. Single connector.
I have installed thousands of UPSs and aux batteries in my profession.
APC is the best consumer product in my opinion.
My home is equipped with a 60 KW whole house generator, and these UPSes have no problem when we are operating on generator (some UPSes do not like the quality of the power from generators, and stay on the battery which, of course, makes the generator useless for powering a computer).
Also, I use these with two iMac's, and had no problem making the iMacs see and control the UPSes. Just go to system preferences, then energy saver, then select UPS and you can set up the iMac to have the UPS shut down your iMac when the UPS battery is at, say, 25%.
Update March 9, 2015 -- More than two years, and these UPS's are going strong. I also purchased a BR-1500G 1500VA UPS in January 2014 which is working fine.
Update April 18, 2016 -- More than three years, and the two BR1000G UPS's are still working great, and more than 2 years, and the BR-1500G is also still working fine. All are still using the original batteries. While I have had some last close to 5 year, I think 3 years is pretty good. I think I am going to routinely replace the batteries at 3 years. I put a 5 year battery in my 60KW whole house generator, and replace it every 3 years. It is a bad experience when you spend the money for a whole house generator and then it won't start due to a dead battery.
I would recommend anyone looking for a great UPS to buy this one.
