If you need maximum runtime, go with the BGE90m and plan on replacing the battery occasionally. If you need maximum battery lifespan, go with the BGE50ML -- its lithium ion battery will live a lot longer than the batteries in the other two units.

Update: I contacted the APC by Schneider support team and was told that based on the serial number the unit is out of warranty, meaning the unit I received from Amazon is over three years old. They also recommended moving up to their 350 model for my 14 watt gateway. When I disconnected the UPS and inspected the battery, the battery had a date code indicating that it was manufactured in December of 2014. Needless to say the unit is going back. I will say that APC support was very easy to contact and they made every attempt to be helpful. Unfortunately in this case Amazon is trying to sell an old product that doesn't work well as a new product. What's even more disgusting is they now have it listed for more than double what I paid for it and even more than what APC has it listed for on their own site.
After contacting the Schneider support mentioned in their reply, they agreed with my judgement and sent me a replacement battery. The replacement battery they sent me is over 2.5 years old making it OLDER THAN THE ORIGINAL "new" battery I complained about in the first place(see photos). Sorry to say, my one star review is too high for this purchase.

This UPS works as advertised. But before you purchase, there are a few things you need to know.
1. The plugs are only 2-prong. This is OK because you should only be plugging in your modem, router and phone base, not daisy chaining zip-strips to run your whole house.
2. The LED light is VERY BRIGHT. As in, "lights up your entire bedroom" bright. It's not one spot to cover up, the light comes out through VENT HOLES. I spent 5 minutes trying to cover the holes where light was pouring out before I figured out I was slowly choking this thing. I don't know. Maybe that's what it's into. Different strokes.
3. It will scare the living bejezus out of you when the power goes out. It plays a loud, 3-second tone every time the power surges!!! It doesn't care if you are sleeping at 3 am. THIS WILL TEST YOUR PACE MAKER.
I've had a dozen of these things over the course of 15 years. This is the first one to ever play a tone when switching to battery. Most every other one has a relay 'click'. I really like APC products, but this is the worst design they have ever produced.
About once every 3-5 weeks, the LEDs on the battery go out. This happens with both units, and they each go out several days or weeks apart. When this happens, there is no battery backup; it's nothing more than a surge protector. Removing and re-inserting the battery immediately fixes the problem. Upon plugging the battery back in, the LEDs indicate that it's mostly charged.
Total load is 18 watts on the first unit and 10 watts on the second -- well within the rated output. Both are on shelves in a room constantly kept around 70 - 75 degrees. There is plenty of air circulation (over 6" clearance on top, at least 12" on either side, about 5" in back, and wide open space to the front) and there are no adjacent heat sources. There are no signs of thermal or physical stress; no bulging, no heat marks, no arc indicators, nothing at all to suggest a problem. The unit is never more than slightly warm to the touch.
Despite a warranty replacement, the issue continues. I'm getting ready to send both back for replacements ... again. There's either a design flaw or a quality control issue here. Judging by the other reviewers mentioning this, I'm clearly not the only one experiencing this issue. This is not up to APC standards.

Every system has an APC UPS on it.
I bought this specific Back-UPS to run my modem, router, and main switch.
Be aware that the three outlets are two-prong AC only.
This unit cannot be used with three prong AC wall adapters or cords.
This is why I gave it only 4 stars. There is no reason they could not have designed it to take three prong AC adapters as well.
