Reliable Power Protection
As one of the world’s largest and most respected power protection designers and manufacturers, APC is relied upon daily for power protection and availability. APC products offer the maximum level of protection, safety, convenience, and reliability.
APC surge protectors undergo stringent testing by IEEE, and are awarded 'let-through ratings', which indicate the maximum voltage level that can possibly reach your equipment after a surge or voltage spike has passed through an electric surge protector. Lower IEEE let-through ratings indicate better protection and performance. The APC Essential SurgeArrest series offers optimal performance with a let-through rating of less than 330V for North American products, and a rating of less than 15 percent for products sold worldwide.
Safety-Agency Approved Protector with Lifetime Warranty.
The PE76W has been tested and approved to work safely by a third-party Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL). The APC PE76W surge protector features a Building Wiring Fault LED to warn you of potentially dangerous wiring problems in the wall circuit. The Protection Working LED illuminates when the SurgeArrest is switched on and supplying protection to your connected equipment. If your SurgeArrest PE76W has been damaged by a heavy lightning strike or power line surge, APC will replace it free of charge.
Convenient and Safe for Home or Office
The SurgeArrest will warn you if its circuitry has been damaged by a heavy strike or power line surge and it is unable to provide 100 percent protection. If the Protection Working LED is not illuminated, simply contact APC, and we will replace your SurgeArrest free of charge.
Ensures Maximum Protection
Most other surge suppressors continue to let power through even after their circuits have been damaged, leaving your equipment exposed to future surges. APC SurgeArrest’s Fail Safe Mode disconnects equipment from the power supply if the circuit of an APC SurgeArrest has been compromised, ensuring that no damaging surges reach your equipment.

The issue I have with these is that on all five of them, the ground light began to flicker or just go out completely. (I have uploaded a video showing what the issue is.) Some started doing this fairly quickly; others took a month or two to start having the issue. I have tested the circuit with a circuit tester (both in the wall and in the surge protector), and the circuit is fine. These units have a lifetime warranty, but I don't think getting a replacement would help nor do I think there is an issue worth pursuing. To be fair, I have had one other surge protector with flickering LEDs, and it was not an APC brand. That was a while ago, and most have not had the ground light start to flicker or go out, so I believe this is a manufacturing issue. Personally, I'm not worried about the ground, but I could see where it might worry others.
** Update on 10/11/2017 **
On the unit I happened to use in the video below, the protection LED is now intermittent as well. Since surge protectors don't "heal" themselves, it's obviously just an issue with the light and not the power protection. The thing is, I can't trust that to always be the case, so I threw it out and replaced it with Tripp Lite 10 Outlet Surge Protector Power Strip Tel/Modem 8ft Cord 2395 Joules (TLP1008TEL). I liked the old one's smaller size, but what good is it if I can't rely on it?
The level of surge protection afforded in this power strip is much higher than pretty much all other competitors in this price range. Many of the cheaper ones offer only 300-600 joules versus this item having capacity to handle more than 1,400 joules of power surge.
Being a Florida resident, with as much lightning as we get and many overhead power lines around, this is a MUST-HAVE thing for any sensitive equipment.
I run battery back ups for some even more critical items, but that's just not possible to do for everything in the home. While this cannot protect from brownouts, it can protect from high voltage spikes, which are much more likely to kill your electronic devices than a brownout.
I also like the angled plug, and noted right away how pliable the cord is. It's very nice being able to route where you need without lumps and bumps due to stiff wires.
Well worth the investment. I will be ordering more and watching out for coupons and specials on these! :)
anyways, when her sister uses it, the tv in my gf's room would start to get fuzzy, i bought this and it has solved the problem. its definitely protecting the tv, roku, pc and blu ray player connected to it
1) flat plug so that it lies flat against the wall and the cabinet
2) cable is flexible, NOT rigid! this is great because then your surge protector stays in place and your cable can be routed without hassle.
